Former Fairfax Media snapper Angus Mordant opened his debut solo exhibition at Dominik Mersch's Rushcutters Bay gallery on Thursday evening, and not even torrential rain could keep away his early adopters.

Mordant the Younger, son of Caliburn turned Greenhill turned Luminis banker Simon Mordant, and now based in New York, is exhibiting striking photographic compositions from native American communities, in our humble opinion, well worth the trip.

Gimlet eyes on the gallery floor included those of Anchorage's Phil Cave, ABC boss Michelle Guthrie, CHAMP Private Equity's Bill Ferris, Opera Australia's Lyndon Terracini, rag traders John Marshall and Andrew Michael, Westpac's former deputy chair John Curtis and former IAG director Anna Hynes, Australia Council chief Tony Grybowski, Mordant Sr's business partner Jamie Garis and Universal chef Christine Manfield.
