The following movie is seldom found on non-commercialized broadcast channels. Finding this film on the internet recently was a real surprise for me and now I’m sharing it with all of you. In my opinion, this is the best of the four movies that Joan Blondell made with Melvyn Douglas (the first three romance comedies were made in the short time period of 1938 – 1939). They made this film at the height of her career, and you’ll note that she receives top billing. It wasn’t until the1945 film “Adventure” that Blondell’s star power would began to fade. Clark Gable received top billing for that adventure film. In this film, Blondell once again plays the role of a man hunting gal trying to marry into money. Douglas appears as a well-mannered and much caring college professor who is determined...
https://twitter.com/McFartnuggets http://mcfartnuggets.blogspot.com http://www.facebook.com/McFartnuggets Here’s a really weird commercial from the 1930’s for what is believed to be the world’s first vacation beach resort. The advertising was groundbreaking for its time and their tactic of trying to scare people out of their homes worked rather well. The Crystal View Resort Colony did great business initially. In its heyday it was one of the stopping places for the jet set, even before anybody knew what a jet set was. Rumor has it they got shut down for a number of safety violations including strange drownings. They also had problems with sexual harassment lawsuits from vacationers who were improperly massaged.

Happier times in pre-war Germany. The people of Berlin enjoy the sunshine and head for the beach.
An early "dashcam" style archive footage film, showing a trip along Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, California in the mid 1930's. The rear facing camera captures many classic & vintage cars from the 1920s and 1930s including a Rolls Royce, a tow truck with a vehicle clearly damaged from an accident, and of course many Ford and General Motors vehicles that were so common during this period. This film made available courtesy the Internet Archive's 35mm stock footage collection: http://archive.org/details/35mmstockfootage WDTVLIVE42 - Transport, technology, and general interest movies from the past - newsreels, documentaries & publicity films from my archives. #Vehicles #Trucks #Transport #Cars #Dashcam

Give me mercy and a minute now
I'm a bleed a little poison out
I'm a cry a little river down
And then I'm setting this whole thing on fire
And I'm burning up the night she died
And I'm putting every last picture aside
I'm gonna say what I need to say
In my very last letter to you
Cause you always made it clear
Said that you'd never be my pain
So here's to you and your bright baby blues
And just a pause to cool the refrain
And you said you were satisfied
And now this body's just waiting to die
And that you missed him sometimes but you said it's alright
It's just a whole lot harder alone
But I wish you knew her now
She's a better side of me now
And I'm doing the best I can
It's what you wanted
And I see you like you were there
And I know just how you'd smile
Mary, you looked just like it was 1930 that night
But here the nights they will eat you alive
But I won't give in tonight
You said it's not worth my time
And not to regard them
And not to settle just a piece of mind
But I can wait it out all night
If you'll just keep breathing
But Mary I found a sound
And this heart keeps pouring it out
And the glory hasn't come and it's probably gonna fade
Like the tattoo that hides this shame
And the reasons always fade
And the pain gets out some day
And I'm saying my goodbyes to your deep blue eyes
Cause I don't know how to say stay still in the pain
But I wish you knew her now
She's a better side of me now
And I'm doing the best I can
It's what you wanted
And I see you like you were there
And I know just how you'd smile
Mary, you looked just like it was 1930 that night
If I recall the last thing you said to me
Before it broke up, before it took you from me
And you said "I love you more than the stars in the sky
