Bell Potter Securities is in the market with a 16 per cent stake in the lightly-traded telecommunications and hosting services company Macquarie Telecom Group.
Street Talk understands the broker is building a book to buy the Macquarie Telecom stake from Vocus Communications at $12.50 a share.
The 3.4 million share stake is worth $42 million.
Macquarie Telecom shares last traded at $13 each.
Vocus is the company's largest shareholder.
