Starring Teresa Palmer and Max Riemelt, Berlin Syndrome is a gripping thriller from acclaimed Australian director Cate Shortland (Lore, Somersault).
Alone and adrift in Berlin, Clare (Palmer) meets the handsome and charismatic Andi (Riemelt) and there’s an instant attraction between them. But what begins as a passionate holiday romance takes a sinister turn when Clare wakes up to discover Andi has locked her in his apartment, and he has no intention of letting her leave, ever.
Shortland plays on every woman’s worst fears in this tense, stylish thriller, while Palmer delivers a career best as a young woman drawn into a complex relationship with her captor, the man she must outsmart to escape a terrifying fate.
