INTERSECT is a one-day conference which took place in Bristol on the 19th May 2012. It featured speakers from several minority groups who are fighting for women's rights to give them a platform to present their organisations and aims and to inform attendees how they may get involved.
The conference was borne from the idea that many members of the groups invited to take part feel that they are not included or catered for within what may be termed 'mainstream' feminism, and the conference aims to make some way towards solving this problem. The conference concluded with an open debate titled "How do we create a more inclusive feminism?".
INTERSECT featured speakers from Trans Media Watch, Daughters of Eve and Women for Refugee Women as well as several others and was chaired by comedian Kate Smurthwaite.
