Practical learning and placement opportunities can be anything from projects with partners, to formal work placements, paid employment or structured volunteering.


County Court Victoria internship program
  • Our law students take internships at the County and Supreme Courts, Magistrates Court, Legal Aid, and more.
  • Arts students have access to over 150 work placements with organisations like SBS Television, Film Victoria and Penguin.
  • Our College of Business work-integrated learning partners have included workplaces such as ANZ Bank, Crown Hotels, Disney World Florida, Mercedes Benz, Mushroom Records, Qantas, Toll and many more.
  • Our health students train with Werribee Mercy Hospital and Western Health, and paramedicine students complete 360 hours of clinical placement with Ambulance Victoria.
  • Our make-up students have the opportunity to travel to New York and get hands-on experience at New York Fashion Week.
  • Education students have access to over 1,800 placements with primary and secondary schools, childcare centres, kindergartens, libraries, zoos and more.
  • Our College of Sport and Exercise Science Career Development & Employability (CDE) program facilitates work placements with more than 350 sports industry employers.
  • Learning in the Workplace & Community (LiWC) is an important part of our Engineering and Science courses. Students are given the opportunity to undertake a project with an industry partner.

Recording at Kindred Studios

At VU, we give you the best chance to succeed in your industry by making sure that you learn using the latest techniques and equipment.

For example, our music and sound production students study at Kindred Studios, a professional music rehearsal, performance and recording space.

Trades students get hands-on at our multi-million dollar Construction Hub at Sunshine Campus with Concrete Laboratory, Engine Laboratory, Power Systems Laboratory and more.

Our sport students learn in our $68 million state-of-the-art research facilities, including the altitude hotel, motor control and biofeedback labs.
