Man who 'fled' overnight car crash in Bentley charged

Police have charged a man over a car crash in Bentley on Friday night which left two women with serious injuries.

The crash occurred around 9:50pm when a silver Holden utility drove onto the wrong side of Leach Highway and collided with a black Suzuki near the Albany Highway overpass.

The 24-year-old female driver of the Suzuki received serious leg injuries and a 49-year-old woman who was the passenger in the Holden utility received internal injuries.

Both were taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 26-year-old male driver of the Holden allegedly fled the scene but was found by police a short time later.

He was not injured.

Major crash investigators have since charged the man with stealing a motor vehicle, dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation, driver failing to ensure assistance after a traffic incident and no authority to drive.

He will face court on Saturday morning. Inquiries are continuing and further charges may be laid.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash or the Holden utility driving in the Bentley area.
