Thornlie man charged after dramatic chase through Perth suburbs

A Thornlie man has been charged with reckless driving after leading police on a chase through Perth's southern suburbs.

Police attempted to stop the Holden Commodore sedan on Spencer Road in Thornlie at around 12.50am on Thursday morning.

The driver failed to stop and police were forced to chase the vehicle, with the Police Air Wing helicopter brought in to help officers on the ground.

Whilst travelling on Northwood Loop, the man lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a brick fence.

The force of the crash caused part of the wall to collapse.

The man attempted to run from the scene, but was apprehended by police nearby.

Police Sergeant Andrew Mayer said the 22-year-old man has been charged with failing to stop, reckless driving, driving with no authority, and other matters not part of the evade police incident.
