    My column on the Lowy Interpreter today, in response to the gathering flood of 'How did we get Xi wrong?' pieces: 1. Not everyone did. 2. No one wants conflict with China, so there was a lot of sympathy for papering over the cracks.

    Exactly, can’t relax on this: the IR/security sector we work in is brutally average at gender & cultural diversity. There’s good work going on (sounds like, inc. ) BUT there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t see this sector dropping the ball

    Spot on. Visibility and representation of women in Aus IR remains an issue, so none of us in this space should 'relax'
