From September 2016 parents, guardians and carers in England will be asked to state if their children are foreign nationals. The education office has an agreement to send details of up to 1,500 children a month to the home office in order to create a hostile environment for migrant children. Families can refuse to answer.
The UK Government has required primary, middle, secondary schools and colleges to collect country-of-birth and nationality data for children aged between 5 and 19 (the campaign has won a concession to exclude pre-school 2-5 year-olds in childcare and nurseries).
This policy is unnecessary, divisive and puts vulnerable children at risk.
Families and schools can take action to protect children.
