Westminster (/ˈwɛsᵗmɪnstər/) is an area of central London within the City of Westminster on the north bank of the River Thames. Westminster's concentration of visitor attractions and historic landmarks, one of the highest in London, includes the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.
Historically the area lay within St Margaret's parish, City & Liberty of Westminster, Middlesex.
The name Westminster originated from the informal description of the abbey church and royal peculiar of St Peter's (Westminster Abbey), literally West of the City of London, indeed until the Reformation there was a reference to the 'East Minster' at Minories (Holy Trinity Priory, Aldgate) east of the City; the abbey was part of the royal palace that had been created here by Edward the Confessor. It has been the home of the permanent institutions of England's government continuously since about 1200 (High Middle Ages' Plantagenet times) and is now the seat of British government.

Fox Sports (United States)
Fox Sports is the programming division of the Fox Broadcasting Company, owned by 21st Century Fox, that is responsible for sports broadcasts on the network, and its dedicated regional and national sports cable channels. The flagship entity of 21st Century Fox's Fox Sports Media Group division, it was formed in 1994 with Fox's acquisition of broadcast rights to National Football League (NFL) games. In subsequent years, it has televised the National Hockey League (1994–1999), Major League Baseball (1996–present), NASCAR (2001–present), Bowl Championship Series (2007–2010), the USGA Championships (2015–present), and the FIFA World Cup (starting in 2018).
History
When the Fox Broadcasting Company launched in October 1986, the network's management, having seen how sports programming (in particular, soccer events) played a critical role in the growth of the British satellite service BSkyB, determined that sports would be the type of programming that would ascend Fox to a major network status the quickest; as a result, Fox tried to attract a professional football package to the network. In 1987, after ABC initially hedged on renewing its contract with the National Football League (NFL) for the television rights to Monday Night Football, Fox made an offer for the package at the same price that ABC had been paying at the time – about $13 million per game. However, partly due to the fact that Fox had yet to establish itself as a major network, the NFL decided to resume negotiations with ABC, with the two parties eventually agreeing to a new contract, keeping what was the crown jewel of the league's television broadcasts on that network (where it remained until 2006, when MNF moved to sister network ESPN as part of a contract that also saw NBC gain the Sunday Night Football package).

The London Eye is located on the south bank of the River Thames. It stands across the water from the Palace of Westminster. It is one of London's best viewing platforms, not to mention one of its most popular tourist attractions. Completed in 2000, this huge Ferris wheel is nearly 122 meters tall, and carries 32 gondolas. Each gondola holds approximately 25 passengers. It takes 30 minutes for the London Eye to complete one revolution. Bootsfahrt auf der Themse - London Reise Teil 3 | Welterkunder
Auf geht´s zu einer Bootsfahrt mit Nachmittagstee auf der Themse. Am Millenium Pier nahe dem Tower of London gehe ich an Bord und fahre flussabwärts, vorbei an Sehenswürdigkeiten wie der Tower Bridge, dem London Eye, unter der Westminster Bridge bis zu Big Ben mit den Houses of Parliament. So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames.

Our walk starts in Trafalgar Square, so named in honour of a famous British naval Victory and home to the famous Nelsons Column.
From here we pass Admiralty Arch which stands at one end of The Mall, at the other end of which is Buckingham Palace, and head south along Whitehall, to Royal Horse Guards. Here Katy watches the Changing of the Guards, which has been carried out at the same time each day for the last one hundred years by the Royal order of Queen Victoria.
Opposite The Royal Horseguards is The Banqueting House, this opulent building was the original Royal residence built by Henry the Eighth and the site of one of the most infamous events is British history, the beheading of King Charles the First by Oliver Cromwell at the end of the English Civil War. We then drop in to Downing Street, the home and workplace of all the British Prime Ministers since 1735. Next Katy visits the Cabinet War Rooms, this underground complex houses the offices and command centre used by Winston Churchill during the Blitz and bombing of the Second World War.
Back on street level Katy makes her way to the Houses of Parliament where the British Government have sat since the days of Cromwell, before crossing Parliament Square to visit Westminster Abbey. The Abbey has stood for a thousand years and as well as being the burial site for great and good of British society they also put on quite a good Royal wedding.
The last leg of Katy’s walk see’s her riding the London Eye, one of the UK’s most popular tourist attractions, from where she gets a birds eye view of the walk she has just completed.

Im Jahr 1819 wurde er gebaut und verbindet heutzutage die Shaftesbury Avenue, den Haymarket, die Coventry Street und die Regent Street sowie weitere kleinere Seitenstraßen miteinander.
Seinen architektonischen Namen bekam der damals als er noch ein Kreisverkehr ohne eine Mittelinsel war, aber das ist schon sehr lange her und durch kontinuierliche Umbauten und Modernisierungen heute nicht mehr als Kreisverkehr erkennbar.
Dafür ist der Piccadilly Cirus bekannt für seine auffällig blinkenden Werbetafeln (die vielleicht auch an den Times Square in New York erinnern lassen). At the Millenium Pier near the Tower of London I go on board and set off downstream, passing by some of London´s famous landmarks such as the Tower Bridge, the London Eye, under the Westminster Bridge directly to Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. Moreover I also see one of the new skyscrapers called The Shard, which is one of the tallest buildings in Europe.
While cruising on River Thames, there is a fine array of delicious sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a selection of traditional cakes. So yummy...

Auf geht´s zu einer Bootsfahrt mit Nachmittagstee auf der Themse. Am Millenium Pier nahe dem Tower of London gehe ich an Bord und fahre flussabwärts, vorbei an Sehenswürdigkeiten wie der Tower Bridge, dem London Eye, unter der Westminster Bridge bis zu Big Ben mit den Houses of Parliament. Außerdem sehe ich auch einer der neuen Wolkenkratzer The Shard, was zu den höchsten Gebäude in Europa zählt.
Während ich über die Themse fahre gibt es "als Krönung" noch eine vielfältige Auswahl an an köstlichen Sandwiches, süßem Teegebäck mit Schlagsahne und Erdbeemarmelade sowie einer Auswahl aus traditionellen Kuchen. Mmmh so lecker...
Aber seht selbst, kommt mit auf diese kurzweilige Tour und genießt mit mir den herrlichen Nachmittag!

Its architectural name means circle as a roundabout traffic, but that was a long time ago and by continuous renovations and modernizations today it is no longer recognizable as a "circus".
The Piccadilly Circus is particularly known for its neon signs and flashing billboards (in some kind like the New York Times Square). Moreover it is close to major shopping and entertainment areas and one of the most important addresses in the theater world of London.
