Mais um video da viagem para California + Vegas!! (Video #9)
E agora a segunda parte da viagem de São Francisco até Los Angeles.
Continuamos viagem, depois da parada no Monterey Bay Aquarium rumo a Los Angeles pela Costa da California.
Saímos 12:30 de Monterey e já pegamos a 17 mile drive que começa em Monterey e termina em Carmel.
essa parte é considerada um dos trechos mais bonitos da viagem.
Em Carmel pegamos finalmente a Highway 1, onde iríamos passar pelo trecho chamado de Big Sur, que fica entre Carmel e
Santa Barbara. São 145 KM de paisagens deslumbrantes, onde a pista passa do lado do Oceano Pacifico entre penhascos e
montanhas. Aqui a natureza domina.
No fim do dia chegamos em LA e paramos no Cheesecake Factory conhecido pelos seus Cheesecakes!

California at its Very Best
Stretching for 145 km along the Californian coast midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and extending 32 km inland, Big Sur is one of the most breathtaking landscapes the west coast of the USA has to offer.
Its deep gorges cut through rugged mountain terrain, heavily covered by pine forests that reach almost to the sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Big Sur is a natural wonder offering an astonishing biodiversity that includes many rare and endangered species.
Until Highway 1 was built along the coastline in the late 1930s, Big Sur was an isolated and inaccessible wilderness. It was not until electricity was introduced after World War II that it started to attract a new generation of writers and artists that included Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S Thompson and Orson Welles.
Ever since then, Big Sur has enjoyed a reputation as an artisan, bohemian hotspot, and it is the setting for many novels, movies, poems and songs. Despite this popular status, it remains sparsely populated and has never lost its unspoiled isolation and frontier mystique. Less than 1,000 people live in these remote mountain forests, many them privately owned or part of state parks.
The coastal area has a mild climate all year round, with dry, sunny summers and autumns, and cool, wet winters.
For the last 20 years, most of California has been experiencing higher temperatures and a decrease in precipitation in spring and summer. This has led to a severe escalation in the number of large, dangerous wildfires, which threaten cities such as Los Angeles. During one major wildfire in 2008, 16 houses in Big Sur were destroyed and more than 13,000 hectares of forest were swallowed by the flames.
A continuing rise in temperatures and prolonged summer heat would make wildfires more frequent and intense, seriously endangering the mountain forests of Big Sur and many other forests in California.

Big Sur
Big Sur is a lightly populated region of the Central Coast of California where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. Although it has no specific boundaries, many definitions of the area include the 90 miles (140 km) of coastline from the Carmel River in Monterey County south to the San Carpoforo Creek in San Luis Obispo County, and extend about 20 miles (30 km) inland to the eastern foothills of the Santa Lucias. Other sources limit the eastern border to the coastal flanks of these mountains, only 3 to 12 miles (5 to 19 km) inland. Another practical definition of the region is the segment of California State Route 1 from Carmel south to San Simeon. The northern end of Big Sur is about 120 miles (190 km) south of San Francisco, and the southern end is approximately 245 miles (394 km) northwest of Los Angeles.
The name "Big Sur" is derived from the original Spanish-language "el sur grande", meaning "the big south", or from "el país grande del sur", "the big country of the south". This name refers to its location south of the city of Monterey. The terrain offers stunning views, making Big Sur a popular tourist destination. Big Sur's Cone Peak is the highest coastal mountain in the contiguous 48 states, ascending nearly a mile (5,155 feet/1571 m) above sea level, only 3 miles (5 km) from the ocean.

My Bed
My Bed is a work by the British artist Tracey Emin. First created in 1998, it was exhibited at the Tate Gallery in 1999 as one of the shortlisted works for the Turner Prize. It consisted of her bed with bedroom objects in an abject state, and gained much media attention. Although it did not win the prize, its notoriety has persisted.
Inspiration
The idea for My Bed was inspired by a depressive phase in the artist's life when she had remained in bed for several days without eating or drinking anything but alcohol. When she looked at the vile, repulsive mess that had accumulated in her room, she suddenly realized what she had created. Emin ardently defended My Bed against critics who treated it as a farce and claimed that anyone could exhibit an unmade bed. To these claims the artist retorted, "Well, they didn't, did they? No one had ever done that before."
Reactions
The artwork generated considerable media furor, particularly over the fact that the bedsheets were stained with bodily secretions and the floor had items from the artist's room, such as condoms, underwear with menstrual blood stains, other detritus, and functional, everyday objects, including a pair of slippers. The bed was presented in the state that Emin claimed it had been after languishing in it for several days; at the time she was suffering suicidal depression brought on by relationship difficulties.

E agora a segunda parte da viagem de São Francisco até Los Angeles.
Continuamos viagem, depois da parada no Monterey Bay Aquarium rumo a Los Angeles pela Costa da California.
Saímos 12:30 de Monterey e já pegamos a 17 mile drive que começa em Monterey e termina em Carmel.
essa parte é considerada um dos trechos mais bonitos da viagem.
Em Carmel pegamos finalmente a Highway 1, onde iríamos passar pelo trecho chamado de Big Sur, que fica entre Carmel e
Santa Barbara. São 145 KM de paisagens deslumbrantes, onde a pista passa do lado do Oceano Pacifico entre penhascos e
montanhas. Aqui a natureza domina.
No fim do dia chegamos em LA e paramos no Cheesecake Factory conhecido pelos seus Cheesecakes!

Stretching for 145 km along the Californian coast midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and extending 32 km inland, Big Sur is one of the most breathtaking landscapes the west coast of the USA has to offer.
Its deep gorges cut through rugged mountain terrain, heavily covered by pine forests that reach almost to the sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Big Sur is a natural wonder offering an astonishing biodiversity that includes many rare and endangered species.
Until Highway 1 was built along the coastline in the late 1930s, Big Sur was an isolated and inaccessible wilderness. It was not until electricity was introduced after World War II that it started to attract a new generation of writers and artists that included Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S Thompson and Orson Welles.
Ever since then, Big Sur has enjoyed a reputation as an artisan, bohemian hotspot, and it is the setting for many novels, movies, poems and songs. Despite this popular status, it remains sparsely populated and has never lost its unspoiled isolation and frontier mystique. Less than 1,000 people live in these remote mountain forests, many them privately owned or part of state parks.
The coastal area has a mild climate all year round, with dry, sunny summers and autumns, and cool, wet winters.
For the last 20 years, most of California has been experiencing higher temperatures and a decrease in precipitation in spring and summer. This has led to a severe escalation in the number of large, dangerous wildfires, which threaten cities such as Los Angeles. During one major wildfire in 2008, 16 houses in Big Sur were destroyed and more than 13,000 hectares of forest were swallowed by the flames.
A continuing rise in temperatures and prolonged summer heat would make wildfires more frequent and intense, seriously endangering the mountain forests of Big Sur and many other forests in California.

Big Sur Travel Guide | Big Sur California Video Big Sur is a sparsely populated region of the Central Coast of California where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. Although it has no specific boundaries, many definitions of the area include the 90 miles (140 km) of coastline from the Carmel River in Monterey County south to the San Carpoforo Creek in San Luis Obispo County,[1][2] and extend about 20 miles (30 km) inland to the eastern foothills of the Santa Lucias. Other sources limit the eastern border to the coastal flanks of these mountains, only 3 to 12 miles (5 to 19 km) inland. A 71 mile drive on "Big Sur," or "Big South." Big Sur is a southern stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway in Central California, known for its world-famous views. Big Sur is a sparsely populated region of the Central Coast of California where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. Although it has no specific boundaries, many definitions of the area include the 90 miles (140 km) of coastline from the Carmel River in Monterey County south to the San Carpoforo Creek in San Luis Obispo County,[1][2] and extend about 20 miles (30 km) inland to the eastern foothills of the Santa Lucias. Other sources limit the eastern border to the coastal flanks of these mountains, only 3 to 12 miles (5 to 19 km) inland. Another practical definition of the region is the segment of California State Route 1 from Carmel south to San Simeon. The northern end of Big Sur is about 120 miles (190 km) south of San Francisco, and the southern end is approximately 245 miles (394 km) northwest of Los Angeles.

For this roadtrip, we started in San Francisco driving north up the beautiful Route 101, into Oregon, all the way up the Oregon coast and eventually turning east into Portland. At this point we continued east until the Dalles and then headed South through Bend, Crater Lake, Lake Tahoe and eventually ended up in the one and only - Yosemite National Park. A few days here then led us to heading west again to Big Sur, and then finally back up again to San Francisco.

La télévision a aussi trouvé de quoi faire de l'argent en alimentant un show de télé-réalité où les obèses se font opérer en direct. Nous remontrons également jusqu'au système politique américain pour montrer que l'épidémie d'obésité n'est pas prête de s'arrêter. Les parlementaires dépendent de l'industrie agro-alimentaire pour financer leur campagne...

Dans les années 90, la DGSE aurait recruté en ex-Yougoslavie un chef de guerre dont elle aurait financé les activités. Or, le Parlement européen lui impute de nombreux crimes de guerre. En 1988, une militante anti-apartheid a été assassinée en plein Paris. Plusieurs mercenaires français ont été mis en cause mais l'affaire n'a jamais été élucidée.
