Big means large or of great size.
Big or BIG may also refer to:
A seminar is a form of academic instruction, either at an academic institution or offered by a commercial or professional organization. It has the function of bringing together small groups for recurring meetings, focusing each time on some particular subject, in which everyone present is requested to actively participate. This is often accomplished through an ongoing Socratic dialogue with a seminar leader or instructor, or through a more formal presentation of research. It is essentially a place where assigned readings are discussed, questions can be raised and debates can be conducted. It is relatively informal, at least compared to the lecture system of academic instruction.
The word seminar is derived from the Latin word seminarium, meaning "seed plot".
At North American universities, the term "seminar" refers to a course of intense study relating to the student's major. Seminars typically have significantly fewer students per professor than normal courses, and are generally more specific in topic of study. Seminars can revolve around term papers, exams, presentations, and several other assignments. Seminars are almost always required for university graduation. Normally, participants must not be beginners in the field under discussion at US and Canadian universities, seminar classes are generally reserved for upper-class students, although at UK and Australian universities seminars are often used for all years. The idea behind the seminar system is to familiarize students more extensively with the methodology of their chosen subject and also to allow them to interact with examples of the practical problems that always occur during research work.
Big data is a broad term for data sets so large or complex that traditional data processing applications are inadequate. Challenges include analysis, capture, data curation, search, sharing, storage, transfer, visualization, querying and information privacy. The term often refers simply to the use of predictive analytics or certain other advanced methods to extract value from data, and seldom to a particular size of data set. Accuracy in big data may lead to more confident decision making, and better decisions can result in greater operational efficiency, cost reduction and reduced risk.
Analysis of data sets can find new correlations to "spot business trends, prevent diseases, combat crime and so on." Scientists, business executives, practitioners of medicine, advertising and governments alike regularly meet difficulties with large data sets in areas including Internet search, finance and business informatics. Scientists encounter limitations in e-Science work, including meteorology, genomics, connectomics, complex physics simulations, biology and environmental research.
Christian Ruud (born 24 August 1972) is a Norwegian former tennis player who turned professional in 1991. He reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 39 in October 1995.
Ruud was born in Oslo, and represented Norway at three consecutive Olympic Games, reaching the third round in Atlanta in 1996.
Ruud won twelve titles on the Challenger Series but reached only one ATP World Tour final, losing the 1995 Swedish Open in Båstad to Fernando Meligeni in straight sets.
Ruud is married to Lele Ruud, and is the father of tennis player Casper Ruud.
The Insomnia Festival is an annual electronic music festival which takes place during autumn in Tromsø, Norway. The first festival was held in 2002. Alongside the Numusic festival in Stavanger and Ekkofestival in Bergen, it is the largest and most important festival for electronic music in Norway.
The name is taken from the sleeping disorder insomnia. The polar night and the midnight sun makes Tromsø a city were some people struggle to sleep normally, made famous in the Norwegian movie Insomnia by Tromsø director Erik Skjoldbjærg. The movie later got an American re-make, also named Insomnia, starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams.
Being a festival targeting clubbers, the name suggests that instead of sleeping you can go clubbing.
The festival had a Norwegian profile in the early years. Many of the famous Norwegian acts have therefore visited the festival more than once. Having grown in popularity year after year, far more international acts have been booked to the festival lately. The booking of Public Enemy in 2006 was somehow a turning point for the festival and their ambition.

One of the questions that we have gotten frequently is "Who should go to your Boot Camp?". In this short video, I answer this question for you.
Speaker: Prof. Wei Wang (UCLA) Abstract: Big data analytics is the process of examining large amounts of data of a variety of types (big data) to uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations and other useful information. Its revolutionary potential is now universally recognized. Data complexity, heterogeneity, scale, and timeliness make data analysis a clear bottleneck in many biomedical applications, due to the complexity of the patterns and lack of scalability of the underlying algorithms. Advanced machine learning and data mining algorithms are being developed to address one or more challenges listed above. It is typical that the complexity of potential patterns may grow exponentially with respect to the data complexity, and so is the size of the pattern space. To avoid an exhaustiv...

Accuracy creates trust -- Long-range shooting seminar in Germany. On the 8th of August, the shooting range of Wittloge in North Rhine-Westphalia was host for a long-range shooting seminar under the supervision of Hendrik Strohtmann. Mauser and Swarovski have accompanied the event. Besides taking their own guns to the field, the 10 participants used the chance to thoroughly testing the various rifles out of the Mauser series. Walter Siebert, sales staff member of Mauser, was at the event to give guiding advice and sharing his long year experience as shooter and chairman of the Hessian hunting shooter association. After a warm welcoming with initial briefing about product handling and rules of behavior, the participants followed the team of Hendrik Strohtmann and Walter Siebert to the firin...

Gradle allows you to describe your build using a rich, extensible build language based on Groovy. It provides exciting solutions for many of the big pain points that exist with current build systems. This session will be mostly driven by live demos. You will see how easy and elegant it is to do amazing things with Gradle in the lifecycle of typical and non-typical Java builds.
Insomnia is a festival for innovative electronic music. The creative process within the genre is as varied as the music itself, and the festival hopes to sample a variety of it. The Festival also combines new innovative music with new technology and design through public seminars during the festival. It all shapes through live concerts, dj/club events, seminar, exhibitions, performance, installations and debates. Their venues vary from Tromsø's beautiful old cinema, Verdensteatret and the student house Driv witch used to be the old youth house Brygga where artists like Bel Canto, Röyksopp and Rune Lindbæk started their career. The festival has its base in Tromsø as the city was Norway’s capitol of house and techno when the genre emerged. Insomnia Festival runs as a non-profit event, with ...
