Leadership and Governance

The American Dental Association's legislative body is its House of Delegates; the Association's managing body is its Board of Trustees. The Association's councils serve as policy recommending agencies relative to their specific areas of expertise.

Board Meeting Dates Available

Dates for ADA Board of Trustee Meetings are available to all ADA Members to view. The Board of Trustees is the managing body of the Association, vested with the power to conduct all business of the Association, subject to Illinois law, the Association's governing documents and the mandates of the House of Delegates.

There are 11 councils of the Association. Most councils are composed of one member from each of the 17 trustee districts of the Association. There are three commissions of the Association: the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition, the Commission on Dental Accreditation and the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations.
