Favourite version of the theme tune

You can watch all of them here:

You have to give props to the original Delia Darbyshire arrangement. Nothing quite like it had ever been done before, and it's been steadily watered down ever since. I particularly detest the current series inability to have it without a full orchestra. The whole POINT was its electronic otherworldliness. Orchestras are bad and wrong for the Doctor Who theme.

That said, I do have a soft spot for the Peter Howell version that suffuses my childhood memories. That BOOOM at the end...

Character whom I love that everyone else hates

Lookit him, he's so lovely.

Colin Baker is going to be on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. I hate that bloody show. I watched it when lovely Brian Paddick and lovely George Takei were on it, and I hated the show, I hated Ant and/or Dec and I hated the concept, even though those two guys were great.

This year Colin is going to be on it, so I thought "Oh bugger, I'm going to have to watch it again". But there's a complicating factor. Also appearing? Nadine Dorries. One of the very few people on this earth I cannot think of a civil thing to say about. If I watch it, I know I'm going to get the stressed Eric vein and homicidal urges. But there's Colin. Lovely, lovely Colin.

So, I turn to you, oh wise and all-knowing internets:

Today I are mostly been at this with [personal profile] matgb, [personal profile] magister, [personal profile] sir_guinglain (who is stopping at ours - yay visitors!) and [personal profile] blazingskies and her fella who we met there.

There were panels and signings and a brief visit to the Devonshire Cat for a pint, and Colin spotted me in my Six t-shirt and made me stand up and take a bow, and Frazer Hines (who was v witty throughout) told me I looked better in it than Colin ever did - with which Colin agreed - and Jacqueline Pearce called me DAAAAAHLING and BAAAAABY and we had a ciggie together and discussed booze.

There may be more coherent thoughts to follow (given that I have had two hours sleep in the last 48, my brain is a bit fried and I'm immensely glad I didn't make a complete arse of myself), but for now I am going to collapse in bed and muse on how utterly amazing Jac Pearce is (that voice!), and how impressed I was with how Colin really made an effort to make every single person who spoke to him feel special (he was genuinely lovely).

Comment here with "top ten" or "top five" and I'll ask you to supply one. If you don't specify, you'll get a five.

And it's actually REALLY difficult. Because OBVIOUSLY there are lots of curly-haired men that I fancy, but there are curly-haired men that I admire for other reasons also, and that skews the results slightly...

God, that was hard work. I had to go and look at random quest caps to calm myself down there... O:-)

ETA: Also, [livejournal.com profile] pmoodie asked me for my top five Bond Movie post mortem quotes:

1, It's not really post mortem, but... The bit in Live and Let Die - "Whose funeral is it?" "Yours!" *stab* *partay music*
2, "I think he got the point" (after shooting someone with a speargun)
3, "Take a giant step for mankind." (pushing Drax into an airlock)
4, "Shocking! Positively Shocking!" (Oddjob gets electrocuted)
5, "He always did have an inflated opinion of himself." (yes, I know, another one from Live and Let Die. Sorry. But it's my favourite!)
