The Bureau of Meteorology updated its earlier storm warning at 2.15pm, cancelling its earlier warning for the ACT, Snowy Mountains and Riverina regions.
However, rain is expected to continue on Wednesday afternoon, after 1mm fell no Canberra and the downpour reached 20mm at Cabramurra.
It followed a major thunderstorm on Tuesday brought more than 22mm of rain to Canberra central and more than 35mm to Tuggeranong, in the wettest day this year.
Those in the severe weather warning zone were urged people to put away loose items around their homes, ensure cars were undercover and away from trees, not to drive, walk or ride through floodwaters and steer clear of creeks and storm water drains.
