Word has reached our ears from Washington that Australia's corporate watchdog, the indefatigable Greg Medcraft, has been tapped by no lesser a personage than Christine Lagarde herself to join an eminent panel of finance and technical types advising the International Montary Fund on fintech.

Joining the Medcraft on Madame Lagarde's High Level Advisory Group on Fin Tech (catchy name, eh?) are the CEOs of Circle, Chain, Ripple and Kount (they're all fin tech-related companies, not, as we mistakenly believed at first, the names of a quartet of rap artists). Also on board: company reps from Spanish bank BBVA, a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada and a smattering of eminent professorial types.

We're sure it is exalted company, and the fact we've not heard of any of them is more a reflection of how we need to get out more than it is of the panel's non-exalted-ness.

So: props to our favourite ASIC chair! Flying the flag for Aussie regulators internationally.

Tell you what: the get-to-know-you dinner before the first meeting of the advisory group ought to be a doozy. Imagine the small talk!
