I've shifted to reading Everett Herald Please go back to the old easy to navigate, quick loading Seattle Times.Until then I have found the Everett Herald has the regional news and is much more user friendly. KIRO7 app is also quick and easy to use for Seattle local. The developer of his Times app is just showing off the cool stuff he/she can do.

Just use the website I love The Times - I buy the paper every day and I am on the website every day. I am very disappointed with this app. Every page I navigate to comes up with a spinning ball saying 'Content loading' and it does not go away unless I click on the page and many items on the page never load. The Times listens to feedback from readers - please revamp this app from top to bottom. You know it's bad when the nameplate of the paper doesn't even load at the top of the page.

Slow, disorganized My paper wasn't here this morning, so I checked the app, thinking it would be a good alternative. Nope. Instead of being organized by section, like the paper, the app only shows top stories and related items. I clicked on local news and got 2 or 3 of today's stories and then yesterday's top stories. On top of that, the pages are slow to load and jammed with ads.
I want to like it... This seemingly fragile little ST app crashes several times daily when going from local news to top stories, etc. I'm using Android HTC One M9 with Marshmallow so it shouldn't be that causing the drop. Great content otherwise.

Slow, buggy ST app always takes forever to load, same for individual articles. Mostly a list of old and new stuff and older articles can linger for a long time. Pieces frequently chopped up by multiple advertising blocks. Returning from an article to the overview is always slow. Each time you open the app, it wants to load content to its heart's content until you interrupt it. Each time you exit it, you get a message "app unfortunately stopped, do you want to report that?" Always a crappy experience.

Awful Too slow. Seattle Times, get your act together. Aren't there enough techies in this town for you to pay some of them a decent wage to create a good app? If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Plays loud video ads This app has recently begun playing loud video ads. They just start blaring out of the speakers, & I have not found any way to quiet them or turn them off. It's annoying, because you start reading The Seattle Times in a quiet place, and you don't want your phone to start playing sound.
This is so slow that it is not worth using. Instead use a web browser and save the Seattle Times link to your home screen, which makes for a much better reading experience. Its a little shocking that the publisher doesn't take this problem more seriously.
New common sense Why would the sports section be near the bottom of the page when sports articles usually dominate the top 5 articles section. Sports are more highly read than the opinionated section and all the other useless sections on the main screen.
Worst newspaper app of them all. 45 seconds to load to main page. Then 40 seconds to load sports section. 1:35 to try and load the headline article in the sports section...and then it crashes.....again. Bring back the simple former app. This one isn't worth the effort.
Slow as crap I have the best phone out, on WiFi or 4G LTE and it takes like 6 seconds per item I select? That's heinous. I think the old version actually worked.
Painfully slow If you like staring at a spinning circle that says loading content this app is for you. Continually reloads the same content over and over during navigation. Completely useless app with no benefits for subscribers. Just go to the web page with a browser, it's far faster
App doesn't run smooth enough Everything is well designed, good articles ect. But please fix it. The app doed not run smooth at all if I drag or scroll it. If this is going to be fixed I'll give it 5 stars
Crashes every time I use this app. The app crashes on almost every use. I send in most logs, and never hear back. Perhaps, the Times should consider finding some high school students to make an app that works.
Used to be good.... In the current version the app will randomly open your browser, which will then filter through several tracking websites to possibly target you for a specific app. After doing this for several seconds the browser will open up the Google Play Store with a linked app, suggesting you download it. Not sure if this is a bug or an actual feature inserted into the app, but it is very unwelcome either way. Uninstalling and will try again in the future.
Horrible You once had the best news app out there and then in your infinite wisdom, you updated to this slow, confusing, app crashing mess you've got going on now. All in the backyard of one of the tech capitals of the world. Horrible!
Awful and unusable No updates since apr2015, horrible interface, very slow, constantly hangs 'content loading'. Millions of us will not buy apple devices to see a print replica. Where is the android support?
Horrible, slow and buggy It's slow, it needs to reload the entire contents when you page back, and it's constantly crashing. Given the horrid content of the Times itself, this app is only as good as its journalism. I.e. it's not.
Really slow and broken experience Used to use this app frequently but after they re did the app it's almost unusable. Please take a look at feedback by other readers and revert to your old version till you fix this.
"Loading Content..." displayed for nearly a minute upon opening. Page is full of ads. It's just the equivalent of a terrible web browser. Also, it hasn't been updated in almost 2 years. Really? Just pull it if you're not going to make it usable. I just subscribed to the times but I'm rethinking my decision now.
Constant Crashing I would love to read TST digitally on my Samsung Note 5. The app simply crashes after opening. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Huge disappointment.
Propaganda slant is extreme Danny Westneat is the best example of extreme bias every day. Totally biased but ST keeps it up. If you want curated fake news and brainwashed agenda go ST.
Slow This app is incredibly slow. It takes upwards of 20 seconds for the main page to load every single time you go back to it. Articles take 10-15 seconds to load. Navigation is kind of bad as well.
Crashes more than the Mariners Worth it if it doesn't crash. Better off going to their website...except they make you pay. Lame.
Slow and [too] minimalistic Content loads very slowly, no matter the speed of my data connection. Also, there does not appear to be any way to filter out ads for paying subscribers.
Seattle Garbage.... Just like other posts on here. It use to be one of the best news apps. Then the STs tried to get fancy and it pooped all over everyone. Thanks for the garbage Times.
Painfully slow I don't mind having ads. But do you really have to wait for the entire page, including all the ads, to load before allowing the reader to read the page? I wouldn't mind having the app preload all the news of the day. Haven't you ever used the New York Times app?
I read the news via multiple news apps on my Android phone and tablet and have about a dozen news apps. The Seattle Times app has content layed out in a look and feel just like the newspaper itself and the content is good., That said, I view the app as the worst news app that I use. The reason is the performance of the app. Whether you are loading the front news page, a news section or a news article, you always get a 'loading content' popup that lasts between 5-10 seconds each time. Every other news app loads content in real time, its difficult to see why the Seattle Times news app has such a content loading performance issue.
Unusable since update The addition on scrolling ads that do not scroll rendered this app unusable.
Crashes early and often Not updated for over a year and still crashes practically right after opening it up.
Not Good Buggy, slow load times, frequent crashes. I would still use it if possible but recurring shutdowns make it not worth the time spent attempting to access it.
The app barely works. Crashes all the time and takes up to 30 seconds to load an article or even to start up. The app just crashed because a video ad started playing in the middle of an article and it couldn't handle it.
I'm baffled how it can be so slow It appears the app caches nothing, and combined with the apparent slowness of the Seattle Times servers, every click requires 5-10 seconds of loading rendering the app virtually useless. Total head scratcher how this makes it past QAT.
Terrible The old version was simple and easily laid out. This version has an odd layout and crap ads and syndicated news pieces mixed in the local news pieces. Junk.
Never has worked right, not once Every single time you use it: A) it takes forever to load from page to page, B) crashes on exit, and C) rarely let's you view more than 3 articles before it crashes.
Bombarded with ads! This app is getting ridiculous, try to read an article and it gets taken over by ads that take over without an easy way to close them out!
New Look WHY SO SLOW? It's a bummer - I will still support the ST, but this new app is so slow.
I am disappointed as a digital subscriber. The app does not recognize membership or provide the reader with format easy to read or enjoy.
Crashes a lot Like that it has access to all times content. But it crashes constantly and is really slow. I can't get through a whole article without crashing.
