Ed Sheeran is embroiled again in claims of borrowing, or copying, material from other songs for one of his hits.
The English singer and songwriter seems to have quietly adjusted the writing credits for Shape Of You, a song which has been number one in Australia for ten weeks, to include the writers of the song No Scrubs, a hit for TLC more than 20 years ago.

According to the BBC, official publishing details for the song, which initially only credited Sheeran and his co-writers Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid, now include the writers of No Scrubs, Kandi Burruss and Tameka Cottle, as well as the song's producer Kevin Briggs.
No announcement was released, nor has any comment been made by any of the parties.

Sheeran, who at one stage this year had the top three songs on the Australian chart, and whose new longplayer, Divide, has topped album charts around the world with sales in the UK alone going past one million, is no stranger to discussions of shared inspiration.
There were two claims made in 2016, with suggestions his song Thinking Out Loud and Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On – written by Edward Benjamin – were too similar, and two writers of Amazing, a hit for a British X Factor winner, are also suing over similarities with Sheeran's Photograph.

Even Shape Of You has a few other claims on its provenance, or at least inspiration, with some commentators noting connections with Australian Sia's song Cheap Thrills and Tracy Chapman's song Mountain O' Things.
Interestingly, both Shape Of You and Cheap Thrills were originally written for Rihanna.
An in-demand writer for others as well, Sheeran has contributed hits for Justin Bieber (Love Yourself), Major Lazer (Cold Water), Jessie Ware (Say You Love Me) and One Direction (Little Things), among others.
