UNDP Malawi works closely with the Government and other partners to use development resources effectively and accountably and build national capacities to combat poverty in Malawi in line with the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).More

Our Goals

Our primary goal is to develop the capacity of the Malawian public service to deliver quality services, by enhancing strategic thinking, policy-making, risk analysis, leadership development and managing capacity in the face of the AIDS epidemic and exacerbated by poverty, recurring disasters and food insecurity.More

Investing in the girl child

The MDG Acceleration Framework (MAF) action plan for Malawi identifies the girl child as the entry point to achieve the four lagging MDGs on poverty, universal education, gender equality and maternal health.more

Projects and Initiatives

  • Disaster Risk Management Programme

    Through the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Programme, UNDP in Malawi has laid down the framework of its assistance to the Government to establish a comprehensive disaster risk management system for the country.More

    In this project, we have pooled resources together with the Royal Norwegian Embassy to promote and protect human rights in line with Section 30 of the Malawi Constitution on the right to development.More
