Overview

UNDP has been in Iran since 1966 working closely with development stakeholders led by the government including academia and civil society in providing technical assistance and knowledge. The overarching rationale for the UNDP Country Programme in the Islamic Republic of Iran is to support the Government in achieving its sustainable and inclusive development objectives. This rationale, aimed at 'leaving no one behind', is consistent with the priorities set out in the country’s draft 6th Five-Year Development Plan, the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2017-2021, the UNDP Strategic Plan 2014-2017 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Our work is outlined in the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2017 – 2021 approved by the UNDP Executive Board. UNDP is the United Nations Development Programme, and operates in nearly 170 countries and territories around the world and offer global perspectives with local insight to help empower lives and build resilient nations.
