  • National Transparency Index Reveals Most Open Government Institutions in Uzbekistan Apr 19, 2017

    National Transparency Index of Uzbekistan published ranking of 47 government agencies on how open and transparent their activities are from the viewpoint of citizens as required by the Law on Transparency. The joint project of UNDP and Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications on electronic government promotion supported the Public Transparency Council of Uzbekistan in developing the methodology to calculate the index and guidelines on transparency for government agencies.

  • Development of the Aral Sea region – priority area of cooperation Apr 14, 2017

    On 13-14 April 2017, representatives of diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries, agencies, national and regional mass media took part in the field trip to the Republic of Karakalpakstan organized within the UN Joint Programme “Building the resilience of communities affected by the Aral Sea disaster through the Multi-Partner Human Security Fund for the Aral Sea”. The trip was aimed at showcasing the results of the first phase of the UN Joint Programme, raise the awareness of participants on importance of concerted efforts in support to development of the Aral Sea region and aiming at expanded donor assistance to the region through the proposed Multi-Partner Human Security Fund for Aral Sea region.

    On March 10-11, 2017, showcase field seminars on organization of cooperation between forestry farms and local communities to implement adaptation efforts at a landscape level have been held in rural citizens’ councils “Ushsay” of the Muynak district and “Kara oy” of the Takhtakupir district, Karakalpakstan. The seminars initiated the series of events on climate change issues scheduled for the period of March 10 to March 17 this year across the regions of Uzbekistan.
