Education Advocacy

Our Education Advocacy program supports students with disabilities and their parents by providing advocacy and information to ensure that students with disabilities obtain the accommodations in school that will help them succeed.

How can Education Advocacy help?

Our Education Advocates are dedicated to ensuring that you receive the free and appropriate education to which all students are entitled to. Our advocates can work with you to:

  • Request special education testing and make sure appropriate and timely evaluations occur
  • Help you understand your rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) and 504
  • Review Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans
  • Attend meetings and hearings (Committee on Special Education meetings, parent-teacher conferences, disciplinary hearings, manifestation hearings, and other informal meetings)
  • Access resources, information, and referrals to help students with disabilities succeed

Our Education Advocate is also available for informational presentations to agencies and education professionals.

Am I eligible?

Our Education Advocacy program is available to:

  • Students with disabilities
  • Students who have a 504 Plan or Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Students who have not been evaluated for special education services.

The program covers all levels of educational settings, including elementary, secondary, and higher education.
