Canberra product Chima Moneke recorded his 14th double-double of the college basketball season to lead the University of California Davis into the next round of March Madness.

Moneke led UC Davis with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the 67-63 win over North Carolina Central for the college's first ever NCAA tournament win.

March Madness draws interest all across the globe with the top 68 college basketball teams vying for the NCAA Division I basketball championship in a single elimination tournament.

Moneke steered UC Davis to their first ever appearance in the bracket, and the Aggies have now advanced to the final 64 to face the Midwest Regional division's top seed the Kansas Jayhawks.

The goggle-wearing ex-Farrer Primary and Lake Ginninderra College student is being tipped to land an NBA contract if he continues his record-breaking college form.

The 21-year-old Moneke has one year at UC Davis left up his sleeve before he becomes draft eligible in 2018.
