A 20-year-old man has been charged over the death of a woman in Broome on Saturday.

Police were called to Paspaley Plaza car park on Carnarvon Street on Saturday about 8.50am, and later put the car park into lock down.

Major Crime detectives from Perth attended the scene and several vehicles that were parked near where the woman's body was found were kept for inspection.

A Port Hedland man has been charged with an act of omission causing bodily harm or danger to a 23-year-old - who has not been named for cultural reasons.

The man will appear in the Broome Magistrates court on Monday.
