    idk how I feel about having to remain incarcerated until trial. Sucks for people who are innocent

    Many people take pleas because the system pressures them to. We don't have a system of trials. We have a system of pleas. MLH

    Having a brother that is incarcerated now who took a plea for 26 years , hearing this story years ago was cathartic for me still is

    Many of these people aren't guilty. By guilt doesn't mean you don't deserve due process. MLH

    Not yet. These institutions rarely if ever apologize. They're thinking about their own interests. MLH

    Has Rikers offered any solutions? Have anyone involved in the unjust in the prison come out and apologize at minimum?

    83 percent of people in American jails and prisons are there because they can't afford to pay bail. That is an EVIL system. MLH

    Its hard to watch the story & not feel an array of emotions. Another example of young man's life unnecessarily wasted.

    A so-called eye witness claimed that Browder robbed him. The witness story changed and was VERY questionable. It was a weak case. MLH

    Others, like myself, would argue that we need to get rid of the bail system altogether. MLH

    Reform suggests the system is broken and needs to work. We must accept that the system is working as designed and needs to be broken. MLH

    merely reforming the system of "mass incarceration" only shifts the problems we have to dismantle the PIC entirely

    The criminalization of poverty happens when you over-police poor neighborhoods, impose stop and frisk, and don't offer proper council. MLH

    the intersections of race and class are so poignant in story. To be poor and black is somehow criminal

    Bail is not intended to be a punishment. It is intended to ensure a return to court. Bail as punishment turns jail into debtors prison. MLH
