    Public defenders are overworked. The adversarial system is a farce. Pleas are often the only way out, guilty or not. MLH

    Many people take pleas because the system pressures them to. We don't have a system of trials. We have a system of pleas. MLH

    A so-called eye witness claimed that Browder robbed him. The witness story changed and was VERY questionable. It was a weak case. MLH

    Others, like myself, would argue that we need to get rid of the bail system altogether. MLH

    Reform suggests the system is broken and needs to work. We must accept that the system is working as designed and needs to be broken. MLH

    The criminalization of poverty happens when you over-police poor neighborhoods, impose stop and frisk, and don't offer proper council. MLH

    Bail is not intended to be a punishment. It is intended to ensure a return to court. Bail as punishment turns jail into debtors prison. MLH
