At 9to5, we make great efforts to be a top influencer in the tech community by consistently breaking exclusive news and being the first to report information our readers care about.

We deliver breaking information in digestible format peppered with commentary, wit, and a deep understanding of the subject matter being discussed.

It isn’t enough to just inform; our posts strive to be interesting and entertaining, complimented with compelling, high-quality images and video.

9to5 sites are consistently at the top of Techmeme’s leaderboards, listed as top technology sites on Technorati, and have an excellent Tracour record. Our reporters have won numerous awards and recognitions for their journalism.

9to5 sites use industry standard Adsense ads, and offer sponsored posts to companies interested in reaching our readership through long-form articles rather than banners. Sponsored posts are always clearly marked as such, represent the views of their sponsors, and improve the site experience for readers by removing traditional banner ads for the day.

Reviews:

9to5 reviewers are never paid for reviews but we often receive free temporary or permanent review units and complementary instruction on usage. We only run reviews of hardware and software that we deem interesting to our audience, and worth looking at. This is the reason you don’t often see poor reviews on 9to5 sites – if we review something we don’t like or find interesting, we usually won’t post it. We don’t want to waste your time.

Affiliate linking: We use affiliate links whenever possible; 9to5 sites run software that adds affiliate tags to any outside linking as a revenue generating mechanism. You support 9to5 by using our links to buy products.

9to5Toys.com is a gear, shopping deals and news site where we aim to be first posting original news on new gadgets and notable price drops. 9to5Toys also aggregates relevant technology deals from leaders in this industry including StackSocialMacUpdate and others.

Licensing, Permissions and Reprints: For all licensing, permissions and reprint requests please contact our official partner, Wright’s Media for more information. Please note that Wright’s Media is the only authorized company that we’ve partnered with for materials and assets. Wright’s Media contact: 9to5@wrightsmedia.com or (877) 652-5295.

History:

9to5Mac was born in 2007 between the announcement and the launch of the iPhone from Seth Weintraub’s Paris apartment. Weintraub was taking sabbatical from Mac IT development work while his wife was given a fellowship to study in France. The blog was a way to keep up with technology developments and nurture a writing career that was also taking shape at Computerworld, an IDG publication.

Mark Gurman joined the team when the logo still contained the coffee mug (right).

9to5 became a full time career in 2011 when Weintraub left Fortune Magazine, started up 9to5Toys.com and 9to5Google.com and continued ramping up with additional editors and reporters.

Now 9to5Mac averages over a half million pageviews a day and while the other 9to5 sites don’t yet drive as much traffic, they are growing quickly.

Writing about technology for a living is a dream come true!
