What is a podcast?

A podcast is basically a radio show you can listen to whenever and wherever you want.

The best bit is that you can subscribe to a podcast (for free) and it will automatically be delivered to you each week.

RN's podcasts include almost everything you can hear on-air and also some shows that are podcast exclusive.

How do I listen on my phone?

Listening to podcasts is easy if you have a smartphone.

You can get all your favourite shows on the ABC Radio App (available for free in the App Store and Google Play). Just click "explore" and browse by genre.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you're ready to go. Apple's free Podcasts app comes pre-installed. If you can't find it, try searching your device.

There are plenty of other apps with added features, such as Pocket Casts and Overcast, but they're not strictly necessary.

You can subscribe to your favourite RN shows either by searching for them in the app or clicking the "subscribe" link when you visit the program page in your web browser.

Or just search for "ABC" in your podcast app and discover a whole range of great Australian shows.

What if I don't have an iPhone?

On Android there are a variety of apps you can use, including Pocket Casts and Doggcatcher. You'll have to download one of them in Google Play: just search for "podcast".

The process is much the same as on an iOS device: either search for the program name in your podcasting app or hit the "subscribe" link on the program page in your web browser.

What if I want to listen to RN live on my phone?

You can listen live on the sleek ABC Radio App, which also lets you subscribe to your favourite podcasts (again, for free) and listen later.

But I don't have a smartphone!

If you don't have a smartphone you can listen on your computer by hitting listen live or using the play and download buttons on every program page.

And if you don't have a computer... well, there's always the radio.
