  What is RTÉ Player International?

  RTÉ Player International is an iOS App that gives international audiences (outside of the Republic of Ireland) instant access to explore the best of Irish television. Audiences around the world can enjoy instant access to some of Ireland’s most popular TV shows including The Late Late Show, Prime Time, The Six One News, Fair City, Nationwide and lots more.

  There are over 500 hours of great Irish television available on the app, including the latest just-aired TV programmes for up to 30 days as well as a great selection of box sets and collections.

  There is a wide range of free programmes as well as additional paid for content, covering many genres including; News and Current Affairs, Comedy, Entertainment, Documentaries, Drama, Lifestyle, Irish Language and Kids. Content is refreshed daily with new programmes and series constantly being added.

  To access the premium content, users must register and subscribe through the app.

  What live content can I watch?

  There is live news and live entertainment programming available to watch regularly. We show a number of bespoke live events and special programmes throughout the course of the year e.g. St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Rose of Tralee, Eurovision, 1916 Commemorative events and other live events.

  Why can’t I see RTÉ Player International in the App Store?

  Due to the way iTunes accounts are set up by Apple, to download the RTÉ Player International App you will need to have an international iTunes account. If your iTunes account is connected to Ireland, you will only be able to see the RTÉ Player app available in the App Store. If you cannot set up an international iTunes account, you can still use the Irish RTÉ Player while abroad to catch up on key programmes just ensure you have the latest update downloaded from the app store.

  Apple's rules state that to be registered internationally you need a credit card that is issued in that country. For information on Apple iTunes accounts visit https://www.apple.com/support/.

  You select a country that you are based in when you set up your Apple ID. You can check the country of your existing iTunes store account. Your Apple ID contains your account information including country and credit card information. Find out how to manage your Apple ID.

  How can I watch RTÉ Player if I have an Irish iTunes account and live abroad?

  If you have an Irish iTunes account you can still access free rights cleared international content via the Irish RTÉ Player app from outside Ireland. You will need to download the RTÉ Player App or if you have it already installed, you will have to install the latest update from the App Store.
