The Age Live: Spotlight on the Oscars®

Age subscribers joined us for an exclusive conversation, to hear our film journalists discuss the biggest and most prestigious awards in film, the 89th Academy Awards®.

Hosted by The Age’s Matthew Burgess (National Entertainment Editor), the panel featured our film team – Karl Quinn (National Film Editor) and Sandra Hall (Film Critic) – as they looked back at the year in film.

In front of a full house, the panel discussed the nominations, debated whether La La Land was worthy of best picture, reflected on the record number of Australian films nominations, and assessed the Academy’s response to the #Oscarssowhite campaign last year. The team wrapped up by sharing their predictions for the 89th Academy Awards®.

The discussion was followed by a screening of Oscar® nominated film, Hidden Figures.
