It must be every dad's calling to embarrass his daughter – even if she is the premier of Queensland.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's dad Henry has been posting adorable childhood photos of her on his Facebook page, which is open to the public, while she is overseas.
Ms Palaszczuk has been in India meeting with Gautam Adani, in London marking the start of the Queen's baton relay, and also visiting Singapore as part of a trade mission this week.
Her father, a Labor MP from 1984 until 2006, took the opportunity to share snaps of a young Annastacia online, with the excuse that she was overseas, so would not see them.
"Now that Annastacia has arrived at Mumbai for more business meetings, it's safe to post a photo of Annastacia wearing the national dress of Poland for a school multicultural ball," Mr Palaszczuk wrote.
A friend pointed out he would be in trouble: "Just wait till Anastasia [sic] finds out. You will be in trouble Henry. she will be home soon."
To which the proud dad replied: "I hope she'll be too busy to look up my Facebook."
In another comment, Mr Palaszczuk, downplaying the power of the internet, wrote: "She won't see the photo being overseas."
Advertising guru Dee Madigan said she loved the photos but: "Oh my you're in trouble when she gets back!"
Mr Palaszczuk cheekily wrote: "I don't think she'll find out."
Former Brisbane deputy mayor and artist David Hinchliffe asked whether Mr Palaszczuk had approval from George Street to post the photos: "I hope not! Keep on posting."
Mr Palaszczuk replied that he deliberately posted the photos when his daughter was overseas.
"No one knows. Simple," he said.
Earlier in the week, he posted a photo of Ms Palaszczuk feeding lorikeets at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary from circa late 1970s.
"Annastacia enjoyed every minute of that day. I reckon Her Majesty would have loved seeing this photo," Mr Palaszczuk said.
Karyn Payne questioned Mr Palaszczuk's motivations: "I like your PR skills, Mr Palaszczuk... ;)"
He responded innocently: "I'll put another photo up tomorrow evening. Thanks, Karen."
And as Jon Sullivan wrote: "Every parent's ambition – live long enough to embarrass the children. Tick."
It is not the first time Mr Palaszczuk has posted youthful photos of his daughter, sharing an image of her in preschool in October and one of her with a young Bill Shorten in August.
When contacted by Fairfax Media, Mr Palaszczuk said he thought he could probably get away with posting the happy snaps while his daughter was overseas.
"But reading comments from people about the photos and about my desire to not be found out, I thought that very much is going to happen," he said.
Mr Palaszczuk said he refrained from tweeting about state politics so had looked to a different outlet with Facebook.
But he said he did not think it was embarrassing.
"Just to make doubly sure, I waited until she went overseas," Mr Palaszczuk said.
On one of the posts, Steve Molkentin pointed out: "Guaranteed to be on at least one news service tomorrow."
Yep. That's true.
