The Age has had a dedicated
investigative unit since the 1980s commited to uncovering significant state, national and international stories.
Today, the unit is led by six journalists - editor
Michael Bachelard,
Royce Millar,
Ben Schneiders,
Nick McKenzie,
Richard Baker, and
Gina McColl - who work alone and with the paper's specialists to dig beneath the daily chatter of news.
The unit's stories have led to major corruption inquiries, including Royal Commissions, police investigations, and Australia's first ever prosecution of a company for foreign bribery. The team has a track record in exposing corruption in police forces, governments and other institutions.
Many of our best stories come from tip-offs from the public. You can email Michael, Royce, Ben, Nick, Richard and Gina your stories by clicking on their names. They will protect your identity if you request to remain an anonymous source.
For other, more secure ways to tip us off, use one of the pictures above.
SecureDrop gives end-to-end encryption of messages, and allows you to upload up to 500 MB of documents.
JournoTips allows instant messaging in an encrypted environment, and 5 MB of uploads. Telephone (use a public phone box or a friend's phone if you want to be extra careful), and mail, or dropping an envelope at our office (655 Collins Street Docklands VIC 3008) are also good ways to make contact.
Another way to cover your tracks when passing on public interest information to our investigative team may be to set up an anonymous email address at a cyber cafe.
