Electoral Boundaries
The principle of 'one vote, one value' is a foundation of the democratic process in Victoria.
Boundary reviews are conducted to make sure each vote has equal value in elections.
- The internal boundaries of councils are reviewed by the VEC during representation and subdivision reviews.
- The external boundaries of Victorian local councils are determined by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Local Government, after a local Government panel has conducted a review.
- The boundaries of Victorian State electorates are determined by the Electoral Boundaries Commission (external link).
- The boundaries of Federal electorates are determined by the Australian Electoral Commission (external link).
