Friday Night is Music Night with Rainer Hersch.

It's Red Noses at the ready as the conductor, comedian, actor and writer Rainer Hersch brings musical mayhem to Friday Night is Music Night. As we prepare for this year's Comic Relief appeal, Rainer sets out to prove that classical music doesn't have to be serious. No stranger to the radio airwaves Rainer's presented many series for BBC Radio 4, but this is his first appearance as conductor and presenter of the world's longest running orchestral radio show - Friday Night is Music Night.

Tonight's programme will feature the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Voices with Rainer's own take on Pachelbel's Canon, the William Tell Overture, Leroy Anderson's The Typewriter and Leopold Mozart's Concerto for Hosepipe and Strings. There will be memories of musical legends Gerard Hoffnung and Victor Borge, and a rare performance of the Missa Hilarious by PDQ Bach.

Ken Bruce will be on hand as master of ceremonies.

Concert recorded on 8th March at the Watford Colosseum.
