They did away with the 30 pin charger because it had serious limitations in data bandwidth and versatility.

Please don't take this as me being rude, but are you saying the thing NFC can do that BLE can't is NOT operate at longer ranges?

Believe it: This $13 headphone is an overachiever by Nostradamhel in gadgets

[–]flyryan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Beats are a bad example but it's not fair to say that since headphones cost $7 to produce, it's all masterful marketing. You're not accounting for the R&D, testing, packaging, distribution, etc. because that's where the real cost is.

This a great video about Beats specifically: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsxQxS0AdBY

Same here. I usually have a vague amount of knowledge about some games coming out but rarely do I know actual release dates. I'm even worse about movies these days. The first time I hear about most movies is when I look to see what's playing.

Yes, she did a Facebook post about the patriarchy shutting her down and linked to new fundraiser for herself. I don't have the link but I definitely saw it on here.

Something doesn't feel right about the "Hugh Mungus" taco being a 75-cent taco with no shell though. :-/

What are Ethan's political views? by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]flyryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was a really big Bernie Sanders supporter. He and Hila campaigned for him. He doesn't seem to be a big fan of Hillary though although he seems to strongly dislike Trump.

I'm betting he votes 3rd party based on this video: Who I'm Voting for President re: Casey Neistat

A youtube channel is uploading the entire OJ Simpson trial, ad-free, currently at ~330 videos. by [deleted] in videos

[–]flyryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the judge wasn't accused of being corrupt. A jury found him not guilty.

The OJ Simpson trail is a huge part of American culture and literally everyone alive during the time knows most of the details because the trail was broadcast live as it happened and talked about by all the news broadcasters when it wasn't happening.

Salad Lives Matter Ft. Joey Salads by laptopdude90 in h3h3productions

Facebook shows ads differently for videos than Youtube. They are shown in between videos instead of being attached to them. Facebook then shares that revenue with all the videos played around the "commercial".

Here is an article from last year: http://fortune.com/2015/07/01/facebook-video-monetization/

Doesn't he also get ad money from the Facebook views? Do we know which one pays better?

Deep Dive: Certificate pinning vuln in Firefox and Tor Browser by valarauca8 in netsec

[–]flyryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. For some reason this didn't give me an orangered.

Firefox doesn't do signing currently for extensions delivered over AMO. They also don't require that the ID be the same. They originally had reasons for that being the case but they are no longer valid.

So yeah, not a bug but definitely a weakness. They rely solely on transport security for protecting the update process. However, they are now looking at changing the Extension ID piece at least. You can see the Bugzilla tracker for that here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1303418

Hey thanks for posting this! Happy to answer any questions. Pretty much all speculation in that post is now confirmed and the vulnerability is completely understood now. Unfortunately, browsers will remain vulnerable until the 20th. :-/
