Fire crews cut trapped driver free after car crashes into shops
By Toby Crockford
A woman was trapped in her car for about 25 minutes on Saturday morning after crashing into a shop in Bowen Hills.
The crash happened just before 7.30am at the intersection of Cowlishaw Street and Cintra Road, with the SUV smashing through the brick wall of the building.
A police spokesman said the driver had suffered a "medical issue" moments before the crash.
While an Uber sticker is visible on the vehicle, police could not confirm whether she was working at the time.
Fire crews cut the driver free and she was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police said she was the sole occupant of the car and there was no one in the shop at the time of the crash.
A Queensland Fire Service spokeswoman said crews had secured the cafe and a structural engineer was on scene to assess the damage.
