Texas goes to battle on ‘The Voice’

Courtnie Ramirez and Sundance Head, singers with local ties, proved victorious on Monday’s episode of “The Voice.”

Courtnie Ramirez, 17, lost her battle and a slot on Miley Cyrus’ team. But Ramirez was snapped up by Blake Shelton, who compared her to a “banty rooster.”

Cyrus called the young singer from Bryan an “amazing rocker energy that’s so classic” after a performance of Odetta’s “Hit or Miss.”

Sundance Head, 38, from Porter proved a winner on Bad Company’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love.” He bested 57-year-old Dan Shafer.

“You are just your own beautiful being,” Alicia Keys told Head.

Shelton chose Head “because it’s just undeniable. His vocal ability is just shocking.”

Ramirez and Head both move on to the knockout rounds.

Still to compete in the battle rounds is Houston-raised sister duo Whitney & Shannon.
