On completion of this course you will be guaranteed entry into the following Bachelor degrees and in some cases receive credit for your degree:
Bachelor of Arts
You will be credited for 8 units (a year) of study.
Bachelor of Communication
You will be credited for 8 units (a year) of study toward the public relations.
Bachelor of Communication
You will be credited for 8 units (a year) of study toward the professional writing.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Your existing skills obtained through previous work, education and life experiences may make you eligible to receive formal recognition towards your qualification through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
This process acknowledges that people learn in many different ways and that learning may have been obtained through formal or informal learning. To receive RPL, your skills, training and experiences are assessed against recognised qualifications.

Course objectives
This course is designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge to work as professional writers and editors. The program allows a wide range of writing and editing skills for participants to obtain employment within the publishing, corporate, educational industries to freelance work as either a writer or editor.
Course structure
To successfully acheive the qualification of 22091VIC Diploma of Professional Writing and Editingis, the following units of competency are required:

Seven (7) Core Units and;

Six (6) Elective Units.
Students are required to select their six (6) elective units from the four (4) Specialisation areas:

Specialist Writing Areas;

Writing and Editing for Electronic Media;

Industry Skills, and;
-
Photography and Desktop Publishing.

Admission requirements
- TAFE: Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Professional Writing and Editing (22203VIC).
- Mature: Applicants are required to demonstrate their skills and knowledge/or relevant industry experience, by providing a folio presentation of written work containing the following:
- An ability to write short works (1,000 words) suitable for publication in any media;
- An ability to correct another’s written work for grammar, punctuation and appropriate use of language;
- Broad reading experience;
- An ability to provide an objective critique of another’s written work in a positive manner to assist re-writing;
- Basic computer skills. - Other: Presentation of a folio of written work that demonstrates:
- An ability to write short works ( c.1,000 words) suitable for publication in any media
- An ability to correct another’s written work for grammar, punctuation and appropriate use of language
- Broad reading experience
- An ability to provide an objective critique of another’s written work in a positive manner to assist re-writing
- Basic computer skills A level of 4 on the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) is recommended for entry to this course.
