The making of Maiden Heaven

Your track-by-track guide to this week's exclusive free Iron Maiden tribute CD by the bands themselves!

1. Black Tide
Prowler
Written by Steve Harris. (P) 2008 Interscope Records. Licensed courtesy of Interscope Records. www.blacktidemusic.com
Zachary Sandler (bass):
"We hope Maiden like the track as much as we liked recording it. Being part of this album is such an honour for us. We're in such amazing company. We heard Metallica actually wanted to choose this song, but instead we got it. Ha ha, Black Tide one Metallica zero!"

2. Metallica
Remember Tomorrow
Written by Steve Harris/Paul Di'Anno. (P) 2008 Metallica. Licensed courtesy of Warner Bros Records Inc, A Warner Music Group Company. www.metallica.com
Lars Ulrich (drums):
"Iron Maiden have been the blueprint for everything that we have ever wanted to do. I have always had an incredible amount of respect and admiration for them and obviously getting a chance to be part of this feels that that has come a full circle. We had so much fun with this."

3. Avenged Sevenfold
Flash Of The Blade
Written by Bruce Dickinson (P) 2008 Warner Bros. Records Inc. Licensed courtesy of Warner Bros Records Inc, a Warner Music Group Company. www.avengedsevenfold.com
M Shadows (vocals):
"This gives us a chance to expose this great song to some of our younger fans who maybe aren't as familiar with Iron Maiden. Maiden are by far the best live band in the world and their music is timeless, so we are very honoured to be part of this release."

4. Glamour Of The Kill,
2 Minutes To Midnight
Written by Adrian Smith/Bruce Dickinson. (P) 2008 Glamour Of The Kill. Licensed courtesy of Siege Of Amida Records. www.myspace.com/glamourofthekill
Davey Death (vocals/bass):
"I remember hearing the chorus to 2 Minutes To Midnight when I was 15 and being kicked in the sack by the epic vocals, so this is the song I knew we had to do. Being asked to do this was an honour, as I think it's important that everyone recognises what a key part Maiden played in shaping rock and metal into what it is today!"

5. Coheed & Cambria
The Trooper
Written by Steve Harris. (P) 2008 Columbia Records. Licensed courtesy of Columbia Records. www.coheedandcambria.com
Travis Stever (guitar):
"Somewhere In Time was the first vinyl record I bought when I was seven years old at a flea market with my mom, so it's a band that has always been in my collection since day one. We chose this song for Maiden Heaven because we have been playing it in our live set for the past year in a medley of songs we put together for the set. It fits well!"

6. DevilDriver
Wasted Years
Written by Adrian Smith. Produced by DevilDriver. Recorded and mixed by Mark Lewis. (P) 2008 The All Blacks B.V. Licensed courtesy of Roadrunner Records. www.devildriver.com
Jeff Kendrick (guitars):
"When I get worn down and tired, I throw this song on and it rejuvenates me and gets me excited about being on the road again. It has become a staple in our pre-show listening routine and we chose the song for this reason. It is an honour to have anything to do with Maiden and share a CD with many bands I admire and love."

7. Sign
Run To The Hills
Written by Steve Harris. (P) 2008 R&R; Music. Licensed courtesy of R&R; Music. www.sign.is
Zolberg (vocals/guitar):
"I'm a big Iron Maiden fan. I've always admired how epic they are, every song is a story all by itself and with the [galloping] horse-beat and alluring guitar harmonies you can't help but be dragged into the adventures. To be a part of this compilation is a great honour for us."

8. Dream Theater
To Tame A Land
Written by Steve Harris. Recorded by Randy Lane at various soundchecks throughout Australia. Additional Engineering by Rich Chycki. Mixed by Kevin Shirley. (P) 2008 The All Blacks BV. Licensed courtesy of Roadrunner Records. www.dreamtheater.net
Mike Portnoy (drums):
"When picking a song, we wanted to go with the more underrated, obscure choice and it's prog metal style seemed perfectly suited for us. Maiden still rule - even 30 years later! Up the Irons, muthafucka!"

9. Madina Lake
Caught Somewhere In Time
Written by Steve Harris. (P) 2008 The All Blacks B.V. Licensed courtesy of Roadrunner Records. www.madinalake.com
Nathan Leone (vocals):
"There are people out there that think that you should make a cover sound as close as possible to the original version - but we wanted to do it as an interpretation. It was so fun. When you actually pick a song apart and learn what they are actually doing, you find a whole new level of respect for the artist."

10. Gallows
Wrathchild
Written by Steve Harris. Recorded, engineered & mixed by Tom Mitchener.
Produced By Mitch & Gallows. Recorded at Broadfields Recording Studio, Watford.
(P) 2008 Warner Music UK Ltd. Licensed courtesy of Black Envelope Records.
Managed by Craig Jennings for Raw Power Management. www.gallows.co.uk
Laurent Barnard (guitar):
"We're all huge Maiden fans and while learning Wrathchild we discovered a new-found respect for the band as musicians. Some of their riffs are pretty fast and Steve Harris has definitely earned his place as a bass legend! We're so happy we were asked to be included."

11. Fightstar
Fear Of The Dark
Written by Steve Harris. Recorded and mixed by Carl Bown. (P) 2008 Fightstar. Licensed courtesy of Raw Power Management. www.fightstarmusic.com
Charlie Simpson (vocals/guitar):
"I think that Iron Maiden are one of those bands that both the rock and metal scene owe a lot to. They have managed to influence not only bands of a younger generation but entire genres, some of which have been a huge influence on me growing up. To be asked to do a track for this Iron Maiden tribute means an awful lot to us."

12. Machine Head
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Written by Steve Harris. Produced by Robert Flynn and Juan Urteaga. Recorded & Mixed at Trident Studios. (P) 2008 Machine Head. Licensed courtesy of Roadrunner Records. www.machinehead1.com
Robb Flynn (vocals/guitar):
"When I was a kid Iron Maiden were a very big deal to me and the influence they had on Machine Head has been huge. We decided to cover this track because it's just such a great song, in fact it's a classic. I just love the way the vocal line goes up and down, so dramatic. If someone who'd never heard them wanted to know what Iron Maiden sounded like I'd point them in the direction of Hallowed Be Thy Name."

13. Trivium
Iron Maiden
Written by Steve Harris. (P) 2008 The All Blacks BV. Licensed courtesy of Roadrunner Records. www.trivium.org
Matt Heafy (vocals/guitar):
"Iron Maiden helped create what we know as heavy metal. Their influence can be heard on classic and contemporary bands alike; their fanbase spans across the youngest and newest of heavy music recruits all the way to the diehard, life-long metal elite. Without Iron Maiden, Trivium surely wouldn't exist. We hope everyone has as much fun listening to it as we did making it!"

14. Year Long Disaster
Running Free
Written by Steve Harris/Paul Di'Anno. (P) 2008 Year Long Disaster. Licensed courtesy of Volcom Entertainment. www.yearlongdisaster.com
Daniel Davies (vocals/guitar):
"Like all careless, angry men we love fucking to hard rock, and nothing fucking rocks harder than Iron Maiden. Year Long Disaster is balls-out motherfucking shit-dicked exxxstatic to be included on this release!"

15. Ghostlines
Brave New World
Written by Dave Murray/Steve Harris/Bruce Dickinson. (P) 2008 Ghostlines. www.myspace.com/ghostlinesband
Ryan Richards (keyboards):
"Nobody can do Iron Maiden songs better than Maiden so we decided to put our own spin on it rather than try to outdo the masters. I hope our inclusion on the CD shows how much Maiden have influenced, and continue to influence, musicians and bands of all genres."

Seriously the majority of this album insults me.
Fightstar should be now banned from covering anything ever....nd gallows...and sign...SERIOUSLY WHY HAVE YOU INSULTED IRON MAIDEN WITH THIS ALBUM KERRANG?

Posted by Josh | July 16, 2008 6:02 PM | Reply to this

ok i hate most the tracks on this .. .

worth listening to it for the trivium cover 2bh

metallica and devilDriver do a good job aswell though and machine heads cover is top quality aswell

Posted by hamish | July 16, 2008 6:30 PM | Reply to this

I can't even get through the Gallow's track and considering how short it is, that's saying something.
It's just terrible.
I think the Machine Head cover's definitely the best one on there.

Posted by Vanessa | July 16, 2008 6:34 PM | Reply to this

ok now some of these bands it good that they are paying tribute to maiden, but some of them shouldnt of been allowed to. ie fightstar. wtf were kerrang thinking, oh wait i dont think they were.

trivium's was good along with coheed and cambria, best on there

other alternatives could of been motorhead, DIO, airbourne, megadeth, in flames. that would of been better than some of thoose bands they did do. still an alright tribute to maiden

Posted by Mark | July 16, 2008 7:28 PM | Reply to this

I Thought most of teh covers were half decentish, just fucking sign and gallows messing with iron maiden tracks, no-one should ever play run to the hills slower than the origanal, a pile of wank if you ask me.

Posted by Jesse | July 16, 2008 11:10 PM | Reply to this

sign made the worst cover ever, ever in history, i was no where near the oringal, i neally cryed it was that bad, none off the song sounded like the oringal thats the thing? the structure and the tempo was completly wrong.

the drums werent even the right rythem FFS? were they listerning to the wrong song when recording came about???

Posted by james | July 17, 2008 12:43 AM | Reply to this

anyone who likes trivium or avenged sevenfold needs to get some sepultura in there cd player or atleast listen to machine head more.

and people need to leave gallows alone atleast they were a bit more inventive than just tryin to play the song exactly the same as it was when iron maiden did it

Posted by muzz | July 17, 2008 4:53 PM | Reply to this

I Luv the maiden heaven cd is sweet espicaly Black tide & trivium there awesome

but my fav bands are trivium, metallica, ax7 & machine head

Posted by Josh | July 17, 2008 5:01 PM | Reply to this

Look. You're all complaining cos it doesn't sound like the original. If you want something that sounds like the original, LISTEN to the bloody original and stop wasting your own time. The fact is, these covers aren't half bad, they sound similar to the originals whilst also fusing their own elements into the mix. I particularly enjoyed Coheed's and Machine Head's.

Posted by Hola | July 17, 2008 5:30 PM | Reply to this

I like most of the bands on this CD..

But MAJOR respect to Madina Lake, and all the bands that tried to make the song their own.

People have to remember these are covers and not copies!!

Madina Lake are never afraid to try something different, and they always stay true to themselves.

That's what musics all about :)

Awesome CD bar a few songs.

Ghostlines Brave New World was a great cover, as was Fighstar (OMFG CHARLIE FROM BUSTED! is getting a bit old now) Dream Theater, A7x, Coheed and Cmbria and Metalica covers were all ace as well.

Couldn't get through more than about 30 seconds of Gallows, that man cant sing for crap here. Sign and Madina covers were good efforts but didnt quite pull it off imo.

The album was kinda cool!!
loved Metallica!! They sounded as if they were the only ones who knew what they were doing right!!! sounded proper professional!!!
devol rider was jus all wrong for Maiden!! the voice was wrong!!
avenged and trivum were also cool!
rock on IRON MAIDEN!

ok, this is bad.
Hardly any of the acts did Maiden justice.
Only really Metallica, DT and Machine Head.
All the other acts are pretty bad, especially that if sign, fucking disgraceful, they should all die,
I think that if K! spent more time picking bands with talant to do this rathar than picking faggy emo bands it might have been a good CD.This has been the first issue i have purchased due to the great amount of emo faggotory you seem to have in your mag and is a classic example of how you abandoned metal and now just lick the asses of the little 14 year old mcr fans.
I say have a look at what you were publishing in the 90's and early 2000.
That way you might have an ounce of respect from real metal fans.

anyway welll done Metallica, machine head and Drea, Theater!

Posted by Kerrangfansaremorons | July 18, 2008 6:09 PM | Reply to this

I must say , Ghostline's cover of Brave New World totally blew me away , it was like getting a new perspective on this great ballad , very touchy guitar solo in the end. Other major ass kickers included Coheed and Cambria , Metallica , DT , Fightstar , MachineHead. A7x was borderline.

Most of the other bands sounded more like college rock and emo crap , in NO way any justice done to Maiden with total bull like that.

Madina Lake , Gallows were a total disgrace.

There are way better Maiden tributes out there worthy of being called tributes to the great band.

Posted by RaianF | July 18, 2008 6:43 PM | Reply to this

Their cover of 2 minutes to midnight is absolutely amazing.
It's made me want to buy glamours new album.
Madina Lakes cover was, however, unlistenable "/
All the rest were alright

Just a quick note to say that we really enjoyed the maiden tribute cd but were very disappointed with the efforts by Sign and Madina Lake. Bloody awful, , my other halfs band Sorrows Fall could have done much better. Machine Head rule!!!.

Posted by jeanette | July 19, 2008 1:35 PM | Reply to this

about half was good a few were great and some real shit covers
Gallows, madina lake, sign, glamour of the kill, and year long disaster i never heard of those bands and i'm glad i aint the covers they did were utter shite
i dont like fighstar but is ok
The other covers were cool but in future kerrang should get 100% great bands to do covers ! TRY HARDER

Posted by paul | July 19, 2008 3:35 PM | Reply to this

year long disaster wasnt all that bad tbh but i aint heard of them lol But in future make sure every band u use are great and dont ask shitty bands to do covers and fuck up big time
metallica, machine head are by far the best track on there

Posted by paul | July 19, 2008 3:45 PM | Reply to this

In my oppinon both Year Long Disaster and Glamour Of The Kill were some of the best covers and Metallica's one of the worst, Black Tides cover was easily the best.

Posted by Peter | July 19, 2008 3:49 PM | Reply to this

What the fuck is up with Sign's version!?? That is just a total insult to Maiden!!
LMAOOO. Madina Lake are doing Maiden covers.
next time you get some bands for a cover CD, at least get half-decent ones?

Posted by emma | July 19, 2008 3:53 PM | Reply to this

What the fuck is Sign's version supposed to be? Are they taking the piss?? It's an absolute disgrace!! I thought the rest of the songs were pretty good, but Sign's version is, without doubt, the worst cover version i have EVER heard!!!!!! I saw them support The Wildhearts a while ago, and they were shit then! Apparently, practice (assuming they actually do), doesn't make perfect!

Posted by Aaron | July 19, 2008 6:04 PM | Reply to this

How can this be the tribute to one of the greatest metal bands ever!? The selection of bands is ridiculous! I mean think of all the bands they could have used? Bodom, Hammer fall, Lamb of God, Megadeth, Dragonforce, Iced Earth! Its an honour to cover a maiden song for any metal band! Kerrang should be ashamed of this CD it was the worst 'Tribute' ever created, and is a insult to Maiden and all of there loyal fans!

Posted by Wiggy | July 19, 2008 10:20 PM | Reply to this

First of all ....the a7x one is fucking awesome ! ....so is glamour for the kills ...well thats more than awesome lol ! ..madina lakes is impresive too ..fightstars not bad ...not rly listened to the others much yet but those stuck out for me :D

Posted by Dave<3leah | July 20, 2008 10:12 PM | Reply to this

A couple of brilliant tracks (Machine Head, Trivium); a couple of nice new interpretations - kudos to Sign and Ghostlines for having the balls to make the songs in their own style rather than try and do a full metal cover that'd put them out of their depth.

But seriously, I can't believe Gallows are happy with their cover, they took a pretty good song and butchered it. I've never really listened to Gallows properly, but after listening to this it comfirmed my suspicion that they have very little musical ability, and that they're only big because they have a very good PR agent.

To all the guys at Kerrang!: Put more effort in if you ever consider attempting something like this again.

Posted by Tim | July 21, 2008 12:52 PM | Reply to this

There were other great covers on there Black Tide, Glamour Of The Kill, Coheed And Cambria, Year Long Disaster.

The biggest bag of wank I have ever had the misfortune to listen to (and you've got Avenged Sevenfold on here). All in all tho not a bad collection, much better than the 'official' tribute album out there.

Their cover of Run to the Hills is the biggest bag of wank I have ever had the misfortune to listen to (and you've got Avenged Sevenfold on here). All in all tho not a bad collection, much better than the 'official' tribute album out there.

They were all shit except Black Tide, Metallica, Dream Theater and Machine Head. Listening to Sign's cover of Run to the Hills makes me want to them down and shoot them!!

Avenged Sevenfold's cover was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like all of their material, new stuff , old stuff and covers. M.Shadows sounded kinda weird pronounced words properly though lol! The guitar and drums was insane and personally i think the drumming from The Rev was better than Michael McBrian's in the origianl version!

Their cover was one of the best. A7x's cover wasn't that good the chorus was so lame and Nickos a way better drummer.

Posted by Peter | July 21, 2008 8:44 PM | Reply to this

Personally, I think this was a pretty good album Kerrang
worth the wait
i think i only disliked 4 songs on there
sorry, but sign just compleatly ruined run to the hills and Gallows are not cut out for Maiden. Neither are Devildrivers vocals, good band but not cut out for Maidens songs, it dosen't suit them. A7X just got annoying.

Black Tide and Coheed impressed me.
And Machine Head are great all the time so there cover rocks twice as hard. Ghostlines was really interesting and has kept me hooked for a while

Posted by JoNnY | July 21, 2008 8:55 PM | Reply to this

Good Tribute CD Metallica. Machine Head, Coheed and A7X are the strongest tracks. Also thought the GhostLines interpretation of Brave New World was very clever and definately got me interested to listen to some of their own material. But Sign should be brought to the slaughter for their fucking lame ass cover of one of the Irons greatest songs, they should give up now as they have ruined a classic. Wankers.

Apart from that moan cheers Kerrang

Posted by Craig Pywell | July 21, 2008 10:57 PM | Reply to this

Was it just me or have Machine Head come up with another great cover for kerrang!!??! Havent heard Robb Flynns voice do those sort of notes consistantly for a while but it was awsome! Easily the best cover on the album, but closely followed by Metallica and Dream Theatre! MACHINE FUCKIN HEAD!!!

Posted by GavGoob | July 22, 2008 10:52 AM | Reply to this

It proves only one thing- leave Maiden songs to Maiden. Not great, but Metallica didn't suck!!!

Posted by Bob Cook | July 22, 2008 8:57 PM | Reply to this

Ghostline did an awesome cover, I've read BNW, so it had an exta dark feeling to it.

No suprises on Dream Theater, that cover was godly.

Sign did a nice cover, it was bad at first but warmed up at about 0:45, and I found myself singing the chourus by the end.

Machine Head, Devildriver, Fightstar, Coheed and Metallica all did well.

Gallows, Madina Lake, and Avenged Sevenfold were all crap.

The rest were all kinda rip offs, but I'll listen some more to them first.

Only taste of old Metallica.

couldnt agree with you more there

people still hold the same image of one person from any previous bands that they were in, its a bit sad really

and charlie left 'busted' because he wanted to work on fightstar, who are alot better too

Posted by somebody =] | July 23, 2008 3:29 PM | Reply to this

thats fair enough if you dont like the music, i respect that. i mean you cant force people to like something lol. but most people are like how i said

Posted by adam | July 25, 2008 12:10 AM | Reply to this

This album had the potential to be total guff but I actually quite liked it. Metallica once again manage to cover a song and make it sound their own, Trivium provided the perfect tribute to the origional 'Iron Maiden' and many others displayed a few interesting takes on classic maiden tunes (loved 'Caught somewhere in time' and even Run to the Hills was peculiar but weirdly interesting. However, what the FUCK are Fightstar doing on here? The guy can't sign, certainly not in the league of Brucie and the Guitar solo's are absolutely pitiful. Why God why are such a useless band like Fightstar featured in Kerrang anyway? There is nothing remotely mental about some half wit from Busted playing pop songs loudly. Really annoying and the main black mark against the album. Otherwise a good tribute with some outstanding tracks and interesting interpretations.

Posted by Dave Hale | July 25, 2008 10:18 AM | Reply to this

By the way - I spelt a couple of things wrong - sign is meant to say sing and mental is supposed to say metal.

By the way, no one is slagging off Fightstar coz Charlie was in Busted - they are being slagged them off because they seriously suck.

the singers voice harks back to the days of paul di'anno
with the polished gitauring that maiden would be proud of
well seems kerrang may not have totally fucked up for once

Remember tomorow
see now metallica can do some good stuff ^^ shame only when some one else has written it
for them or they have to cover it but isnt that basically the last half of their career?

flash of blade
so far the first song i dont want to vomit as soon as i hear it and it isnt half bad at all to be fair
avenged sevenfold seem to know what the hell their doin and who the hell they are tributing here and well done guys you given an acceptable offering and may pass unscathed
altho the backing vocals could do with some work
just a pointer

2 minutes to midnight
well when the guy actually hits puberty may sound okay at least the gitaurs n all aint been fucked with too much
okay now they fucked up!
rhythm gitaurs almost drowning out the solo
dya know what i think iam really gona hate this with my entire soul
and what the fuck is with the chavvy sayin mooo ooon
its moon pure and fuckin simple

the problem is the worst bit of this album is i kno all maiden so much as soon as it kicks in my body tappin foot on auto till i realise what the fuck is this crap
heretic bastards tearing the holy apart in a serises of fuck up riffs and balls up vocals

The Trooper
well i suppose there wasnt any denyin coheed would do well with the gitauring
but after a powerful start unfortunatly the singers voice doesnt suit which is a shame because i really like their previous work
glad to hear the galloping gitaurs kept so well mayb the saving grace of this cover

Wasted Years
devil driver an interesting choice of song here. its just a shame he decided to use the growling they started well but unfortnatly here finished in mediocre

run to the hills
okay i was pissed at singing but gitaur is killing me
i honestly can think of nothin to say i am just gona sit here in horrified silence n reach for the skip button
ive seen 11year olds on youtube perform better than this bunch that have managed to blag their way onto another
crappy publicity stunt by a sellout magazine tryin to look cool for the kids.

To tame a land
Now did we have any doubts here that dreamtheater would do well with this
they choose the song for themselves well not only one they can do well but it suits their own style so well
they seem to pull this off with a nice and easy grace

caught some where in time
why the hell does this make me think my chemical emo just popped up with atreyu in tow to royally screw iron maiden on one of its lesser known greats
kids put that screamo\emo fad to good use and kill yourselfs now
with that wanting to be heavy gitaur n the oh so dark n beautiful piano that sounds like a toddler on a xylaphone

Wrathchild
No and lets just leave it at that im to tired of listening to this now to even bother SKIP!

fear of the dark
well now i fuckin do ill hand it to fightstar for once
they have the gitaurs drums bass all nicely done n something on this record i can actually stand
shame he sings in it tho coulda done a perfectly nice instrumental
just go get a another singer who can actually punch out the words rather than whisperin in the background in two tone dead or crap
ill let you choose and that scream? what the hell is that doing anywhere near it you cant pull of the rest of the song so dont fuck it up but addin worse to it just putting salt in the wound

hallowed be thy name
iam actually impressed by something machine head have done! now this has been a while
okay iam stunned jez fair fuckin play these guys can hold their heads high after this and a salute to you well done

Iron maiden
Heafy put the song down right fuckin now you stupid cunt!
i dont think my head left my hands the whole time this song was playing
just keepin puttin all those huhs at the end thats fine youll just turn into another crappy metallica
with the only problem being you didnt actually do any good stuff before you ran outta talent
think this is gona be the only time i gona use a quote of trivium here
"Without Iron Maiden, Trivium surely wouldn't exist"
WTF were they thinkin when they said that they are truely a metallica child surely and they should left that bastard love child outta the light
it shoulda been left to rot in the bottom of a very deep dark well
keepin the spot warm with its fleshless corpse for the other ppl who joined in on the bastardising of a holy band

Running Free
sorry but this is nothing good
all tho to be fair its nothing that bad either
just plain average nuff said really

brave new world cover
well if they wana sound like commercail crap with an attempt to be cool by covering a great song ... they even managed to fuck that up!
ill admit the piano in it may work if the rest was played true to the orginal but when i figure out how far this is off i can just line up abit better and shoot it some more

I do apologise for grammer and vocab in this i was pretty annoyed whilst writing this and wasnt fussed on details but i hope this shows that you shouldnt mess with great records just to give yourself a boost in the profit margins

And might I add that Fightstar did a great job, and that the Maiden version really does suck balls...

WHAT A COCK SERIOUSLY. point proven once again. people always mention busted. for fuck sake. how can u say charlie cant sing? are you tone deaf? fuckin hell. i fuckin hate people like you

That wasnt punk! punk is good ffs. that was just a sheer pile of shite for another overrated band.

Some of the songs really weren't to my taste (I just plain don't like Gallows, and I do think Coheed butchered The Trooper a bit) but in general I could respect everything on here as either a competent straight-up cover or a worthy reinterpretation. Ghostlines and Madina Lake both did great jobs, in my opinion, of transforming a track into something within their own styles, and doing it very well.

For me Dream Theater were the standout, the only one that I genuinely think was _better_ than the original.

personally I think Coheed was the only band to do this tribute CD any justice. Their cover of the Trooper has always rocked and some of you just have plain awful taste in music. Oh and of course Metallica rocked as usual.

Coheed Rocked!
that is all

Sure, some of the other bands are pretty good, but they have nothin' om Metallica. They are the greatest fucking metal band of all time. James Hetfield has the greatest voice ever and what can I say, the rest of the and isn't half bad either. So fuck yah!!!!!!!!!!!!
