"I was driving in the lane I always do".
This was the excuse a WA driver gave police when pulled over for sitting in the right hand lane last week.
Failing to keep left must rank as one of the biggest pet hates of WA drivers.
Many motorists argue not enough is being done to deter drivers from sitting in the right hand lane, an offence which carries a $50 fine and two demerit points.
But this tweet from WA Police shows officers are aware of the problem and are willing to fine drivers who are committing the incredibly annoying bad driving habit.
Uploaded last week by police, the tweet shows the driver of a Holden sedan who copped an infringement for failing to keep left.
The offence happened on Tonkin Highway in Champion Lakes, south east of Perth.
According to the infringement notice the driver told officers: "I was driving in the lane I always do".

According to the Road Safety Commission, on multi-lane roads where the speed limit is 90km/h or over you must drive in the left lane.
On these roads you can only drive in the right hand lane if:
- You're turning right or making a U-turn;
- You are overtaking;
- The left lane is a special purpose lane, e.g. bus lane, bicycle lane;
- The left lane is a turning lane and you are going straight ahead;
- You're avoiding an obstruction; and
- The other lanes are congested with traffic.
