Everything you need to know about finding a Fencing Contractor
If budget will permit, the employment of a quality general contractor to build your new fence does prove a sound long-term investment.
When choosing a general contractor, please keep in mind the following tips:
- Shop around and get at least three quotes from three different contractors, to ensure you are getting the best deal possible. Within each quote you are given the estimates for costs and labour charges. Compare what the company is charging you versus what they are paying for the materials, and then decide who to go with.
- Make sure your general contractor is appropriately licensed, and ask to see if the contractor is a member of a local trade association.
- Ask for references and phone numbers of previous clients so you can check out their prior work.
- Avoid contractors who ask for the entire fee up front as this is not common practice. A deposit is however and is completely acceptable.
- Make sure you agree with your fencing contractor on the process from A to Z, so you know exactly what will take place from start to finish. This will ensure you avoid any hidden costs pulled out on the hat at a later date.
- Check with your contractor regarding any warranties on the work and the materials themselves.
- Check on delivery details of materials, and who is responsible for this.
- Most importantly, make sure you don’t rush and pick the right general contractor for you.
