Hudson Bay (Inuktitut: Kangiqsualuk ilua,French: baie d'Hudson), sometimes (usually historically) called Hudson's Bay, is a large body of saltwater in northeastern Canada, with a surface area of 1,230,000 square kilometres (470,000 sq mi). It drains a very large area, about 3,861,400 square kilometres (1,490,900 sq mi), that includes parts of Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, most of Manitoba, southeastern Nunavut, as well as parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana. The southern arm of Hudson Bay is called James Bay.
The Eastern Cree name for Hudson and James Bay is Wînipekw (Southern dialect) or Wînipâkw (Northern dialect), meaning muddy or brackish water. Lake Winnipeg is similarly named by the local Cree, as is the location for the City of Winnipeg.
Hudson Bay encompasses 1,230,000 square kilometres (470,000 sq mi), making it the second-largest bay in the world (after the Bay of Bengal). The bay is relatively shallow and is considered an epicontinental sea, with an average depth of about 100 metres (330 ft) (compared to 2,600 metres [8,500 ft] in the Bay of Bengal). It is about 1,370 km (850 mi) long and 1,050 km (650 mi) wide. On the east it is connected with the Atlantic Ocean by Hudson Strait; on the north, with the Arctic Ocean by Foxe Basin (which is not considered part of the bay), and Fury and Hecla Strait. Geographic coordinates: 78° to 95° W, 51° to 70° N.
The United States Military Academy at West Point (USMA), also known as West Point, Army, The Academy or simply The Point, is a four-year coeducational federal service academy located in West Point, New York. The academy, located in Orange County, sits on scenic high ground overlooking the Hudson River, 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City. The Academy traces its roots to 1801, when, shortly after his inauguration, President Thomas Jefferson directed that plans be set in motion to establish at West Point the United States Military Academy. The entire central campus is a national landmark and home to scores of historic sites, buildings, and monuments. The majority of the campus's Norman buildings are constructed from gray and black granite. The campus is a popular tourist destination complete with a large visitor center and the oldest museum in the United States Army.
Candidates for admission must both apply directly to the academy and receive a nomination, usually from a member of Congress or Delegate/Resident Commissioner in the case of Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Virgin Islands. Other nomination sources include the President and Vice President of the United States. Students are officers-in-training and are referred to as "cadets" or collectively as the "United States Corps of Cadets" (USCC). Tuition for cadets is fully funded by the Army in exchange for an active duty service obligation upon graduation. Approximately 1,300 cadets enter the Academy each July, with about 1,000 cadets graduating.

A "Hudson's Bay point blanket" is a type of wool blanket traded by the Hudson's Bay Company in British North America and the United States during the 18th century and 19th century. The company is named for the famous saltwater bay in Northeastern Canada, and the blankets were typically traded to First Nations and Native Americans in exchange for beaver pelts. The blankets continue to be sold by Canada's Hudson's Bay department stores and have come to hold iconic status in Canada. In the North American fur trade, wool blankets were one of the main European items sought by native peoples in exchange for beaver pelts, buffalo robes, pemmican, moccasins, and other trade goods. They were desired because of wool's ability to hold heat even when wet, and because they were easier to sew t...
In this video I give a biking tour of the western shore of Manhattan along the Hudson River. My starting point was South Cove Park, near One World Trade Center. My ending point was the base of the George Washington Bridge in Washington Heights. NYC 2011: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8FC29A5C2A8677F5 I used my Contour Roam 2 camera to shoot the action footage and recorded the audio with my Panasonic voice recorder and earpiece microphone. I tracked the speed and heart rate using my Garmin eTrex 30 GPS, and wrote a basic program in Turing to refresh the numbers on the screen for displaying it. New York City is a great bicycling city! I encourage you to explore the city on a bike if you ever visit. Please leave a comment and SUBSCRIBE. Thanks for watching!

What is the best wool blanket? This question has never been addressed fully with regards to the very best wool blankets! The best wool blankets are: ♣The Italian Army Wool Blanket, now available primarily from eBay at high cost! ♣The Witney (earlys of witney) Blanket ♣The Filson Mackinaw Virgin Wool Blanket ♣The Hudson Bay Blanket - the one in the video is the 6 point (on paper it is queen-size but in reality it is bigger than most super-king-size covers!) but there is an even bigger one - the 8 point! There are great videos on YouTube talking about 'wool blanket wisdom' as well as the reasons and theory for choosing a wool blanket over a sleeping bag. I still believe (and have an extensive experience to back it up) that sleeping bags are preferred for prolonged backpacking sessions. ...
Music: Raining on me / Problems / I Know ... used with kind permission from Carlisle DJ and relative, Shane Bowman. Apologies for the bad overlap between songs - my fault :/ A flight to the remnants of a WW2 bombing range in Moricambe bay - known locally as Hudson Bay due to the amount of Lockheed Hudsons that crashed into the Solway Firth during World War II. The Pill box is made from sacks filled with cement. I did look for a crashed Hudson there but havent located it yet, was told it was to the left of the posts near the rocks but no visual there of it so enjoy the rocks lol. What did surprise me was the birds sitting on the posts, they didnt seem bothered at all by my drones presence. A lovely place and definately worth a visit. Hi to the 2 ladies i chatted to and walked with. :) ...
HUDSON RIVER DAY LINE 1967 - WEST POINT TO POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK Friends- Here's a nice home movie of a cruise on the Hudson River Day Line. The PS Alexander Hamilton sailed round-trip from New York City to Poughkeepsie, stopping at Bear Mountain and West Point each way. Here we sail from West Point to above the Poughkeepsie Bridge, then back to West Point. It was filmed by my dad, Lawrence W. Haas, and the music is by my daughter, Anna Haas. The movie includes my mom (Catherine Anna "Peg" Haas) and me age 9. Comments welcome and please share widely. All the best...
