Stranger Things 2 trailer: the questions we're all asking

The 37 second teaser for Stranger Things 2 hit US screens during the Superbowl and two things are very clear; Eleven is back and release night will be Halloween 2017. We have so many more questions than answers though, which has made this the most compelling teaser to pull apart.

Who or what is the monstrous threat shown for a split second as the storm hits? What is the significance of the huge weather event? Why is a kid who looks like Will Byers shown going through some kind of neurological examination? Where is Eleven?

We have quite the wait ahead to reconnect with our favourite '80s school kids to see where Stranger Things is going to take us story-wise. We'll see a monster of enormous proportions and we know there will be a huge storm thanks to the trailer and the earlier release of some season 2 episode titles - one of which is The Storm - followed by Twitter confirmation in replies to fans.

There is a theory that the storm may trigger the creation of an entrance to the Upside Down.

The Upside Down is back and it looks like Eleven might be stuck there after defeating the Demagorgon in the season one finale. Mike is heard shouting her name and she is shown opening her eyes in an upside down position with her nose bloody.

A vintage ad for Eggos is shown right at the start. There's a drawing of the exact scene of the giant monster shown at the end but is it a prediction or vision, or does it actually happen that way? We see a guy dressed a lot like a Ghostbuster with a weapon emitting blue flame. There's a millisecond that shows Hopper in some kind of bad situation. We know this season is set the following year from the first season because of the date on the video of Will Byers being examined - Oct 30, 1984.
