The driver who was shot be police after plowing through the crowd for 1.2km is reported to be a French citizen of Tunisian descent. The method of attack which is very similar to one advocated in the ISIS magazine strongly suggests an ISIS /Daesh attack. The massive ISIS bombings in Baghdad that killed nearly 300 this month on 3rd July followed the ISIS defeat in Fallujah and this attack comes on the eve of their defeat in Manbij. There the Kurdish YPG as part of the SDF are engaged in street fighting in the city center and the next stage of their offensive should cut ISiS off from its resupply routes into Turkey. This is probably why I'm the Turkish state has been making noises about normalizing relations with the Assad regime, their next best hope of crushing the revolution in Rojava. |

To begin with, let me make it clear from the outset that I consider the attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo to be an atrocity and that I do not believe that it is justifiable under any circumstances to make a military target of a journalist, no matter what our opinion on the quality of his journalism may be. The same is valid in France, as it is in Colombia or in Palestine. Also, nor do I identify with any fundamentalism, whether it be Christian, Jewish or Muslim, nor indeed with Frenchified mock-secularism either, which makes a goddess of the “République”. The local election campaigna has begun and the politicians are busy trying to outdo each other in racism. For two reasons: firstly, they think it's like stroking the electorate's hair, it's what they want to hear (what contempt!), and secondly, while the media are talking about it, the people are not wondering about unemployment, poverty and the distribution of wealth. The slaughter perpetrated atCharlie Hebdo editorial offices has caused a perfectly legitimate wave of indignation and anger, that we share. Our condemnation of this massacre, that aims at wreaking terror and silencing journalists defending freedom of speech, is total.
Josiane Nardi died after setting herself on fire, in front of the press, on October 18 in front of the prison in Le Mans, as a protest against the decision to deport her partner, currently held in the prison, to Armenia. This desperate gesture comes as a response to government brutality founded on the "quota policy", which continues to claim more expulsions and permanently criminalises immigration. [Français] |
