It's no secret little boys love toilet humour, but this may well be the first time a youngster has broadcast a 'fart' joke during a television weather report.

Last week, Mississippi meteorologist, Patrick Ellis, was presenting the evening weather when his segment was unexpectedly crashed by a little boy called Houston.

Clearly confused by the unscripted visit, Ellis asked his tiny co-presenter if he'd like to "point out the weather right now".

"Farts everywhere, and toots," said the little boy, who is clearly well-versed in toilet humour, as Ellis giggled along.

Houston is then swiftly removed from set while an ever-professional Ellis proceeds with the (fart-free) seven day forecast.

Following the program, Ellis took to Twitter, sharing that it was the most "interesting" first weather he'd experienced to date.

So if it wasn't a planned "Kids Present the Weather Segment," what exactly went down?

In a Facebook video, Ellis explained that Houston is the son of a lawyer who was in the studio filming a regular call-in segment. Houston decided to go off on an adventure while dad was busy, "busting in" to the studio where Ellis was discussing dew points.

And while producers spotted him straight away, they thought Houston simply wanted a close-up view of the weather.

Nope, not so. Houston wanted to be on TV.

"He had to take quite the path in," one of Ellis' colleagues says, describing that he made it through a maze of cameras, cables and crew before his starring moment.

"The rest is history," Ellis says, before sharing that, of course, there's now a hasthtag -  #fartsandtoots.

Oh and the man who quickly removed Houston from set was his dad who watched the whole thing - live - from the break room.

"He looked up and realised his son was on air with us," the hosts explained.

Whoops!
