Drip coffee. Philly cheese steaks. Biscuits and gravy. Garrett Huston's menu at his second Mason Dixon outlet will be sweet, sweet news to American expats.

In 2015 the Boston native opened in Oaks on Collins food plaza specialising in sandwiches from north and south of the namesake Mason-Dixon line.

he's opening a spin-off in nearby Bourke Place. And this time, he says, "We're going to kick things up a notch."

With a bigger kitchen in the new space, he's adding southern biscuits and gravy, bacon and cheese grits and sweet pies such as key lime to the existing menu of bagels, reubens, hoagies and cuban sandwiches.

The new shop will open Monday to Friday, serving breakfast – including drip and espresso coffee – from 8am.

In a few weeks he'll add more sides (onions rings, french fries, deli-style salads) and install a provedore section selling products like Vlasic Pickles, bags of grits (cornmeal), house-made sauces and take-home reuben kits.

Huston, who trained as a chef in the late '80s, has recruited some US expats to the team to deliver US-style hospitality.

Open Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.
