FAQs about Vine

What happened to the Vine app and website?

In January 2017, The Vine app became the Vine Camera. The Vine Camera has no login or community features, but allows you to continue to make 6.5 second looping videos (Vines). You can post these videos to Twitter, where they will loop if they are 6.5s or less, or save them to your camera roll. You can also save up to 10 drafts, use the front-facing and regular camera, import videos from your phone, and use advanced tools available under the wrench (spanner) icon such as the grid, focus, ghost and flashlight (torch). Editing features include undo, trim and clip re-ordering.

The vine.co website became the Vine Archive – a time capsule of all Vines that were created through the Vine app so you can continue to browse them. The vine.co archive does not support any of the community features from Vine such as followers, revines, likes, or comments. You can watch Vines on vine.co (or elsewhere that URL might be embedded), share Vines via their unique URL, and log in to your account.

What happened to the Vine Windows/XBox app?

Vine on Windows and XBox is no longer supported or available in the Windows App Store or XBox Store. Users who have Vine installed on their Windows and XBox devices should note the app will no longer function. To continue making short looping videos, there is a Vine Camera app on iOS or Android.

Will my videos loop on Twitter?

Yes! Videos uploaded to Twitter that are under 6.5s will loop – whether you post them from the Vine Camera or upload them directly to Twitter.

How do I log in to Vine?

If you created a Vine account before January 17, 2017, you can log in using the login functionality on vine.co. If you never created an account on Vine, you cannot sign up now. There is no login functionality on the Vine Camera.

I’m having trouble logging in with Twitter

You can log in to your Vine account by tapping the “Sign in with Twitter” link. Ensure you’re choosing the Twitter account you used to sign up for Vine.

If you signed up using Twitter, you do not have an email and password for Vine unless you added these at a later date in your settings. If you did add a password you can log in via email and password.

I deleted my Twitter Account

Unfortunately, if you did not add an email address to your Vine account before deleting your Twitter, we cannot verify you as the owner of your account and will be unable to give you access or delete your account. However, if you would like the account to be permanently suspended, please email vinehelp@twitter.com.

I forgot my password

If you forgot your password, use the “forgot your password?” button at login. You must have an email address associated with your account in order to reset your password. You will get an error if you do not have an email address and attempt to reset your password.

If you forgot your password and you do not have an email address associated with your account and you cannot log in via Twitter, follow the instructions for "I forgot my email address".

I forgot or don’t have access to my email address

If you don’t remember what email you signed up with; don’t have access to the account you signed up with; (or suspect you made a typo in your email address when you signed up), please email vinehelp@twitter.com with a link to your account.

How do I reset my password?

If you have access to your account, you can change the password on your Vine account by navigating to your profile and selecting “Settings”. From there, you can tap the “Reset password” button.

If you are not receiving your password reset emails make sure the email address on your account is correct and contains no typos. You can view what email address is associated with your account on your “Settings” screen.

I want to delete my account

Log in to your account on vine.co, visit your settings screen and use the delete functionality. If you cannot log in to your account to delete it, please refer to the section "How do I log in to Vine?".

My account was deleted in error

If your account was deleted maliciously by someone who is not you, email vinehelp@twitter.com with your username.

I want to delete one of my Vines

Log in to vine.co, go to your profile and use the three dot menu on one of your Vines to delete it.

I want to modify my public-facing information

You can delete individual Vines or delete your account, but since vine.co is like a time capsule, you cannot modify any other public-facing information including your name, username, vanity URL, avatar, bio or profile background color.

Can I download my Vines?

You can no longer download your Vines. You can still view your Vines on the vine.co website through your browser.

Do Vines embedded on the web still work?

Yes, embedded Vines on Twitter and the web still play while the archive is available.

Can I download VMs or my comments?

No, unfortunately you cannot download your VMs or comments.

Does my vine.co vanity URL still work?

Your vanity URL still exists on vine.co and displays your profile screen.

Do the loop counts on vine.co still count?

Can I like, share or re-vine Vines?

You cannot like or re-vine Vines. You can still share them by sharing the unique URL for the Vine.

My account was suspended

In order to maintain a safe environment for users, we may suspend accounts that post spammy, abusive, or graphic content. Please make sure you are logging in with the correct email or Twitter account. If you believe your email was changed without your permission, please log back into your account and revert any changes. Once you’ve done so, please also update your password.

If you are sharing your account between multiple users, we will be unable to return your account to you. Vine does not endorse the selling or purchase of accounts and will not intervene in those matters.

I am being impersonated

As stated in the Vine Rules, using your account to impersonate others is prohibited. Accounts found to be in violation of our impersonation guidelines may be permanently suspended. Please be aware that you cannot report impersonation for others.

Parody, commentary, and fan accounts are permitted on vine.co. In order to ensure that users are aware that your account is a parody, commentary or fan account, please identify it as such in the following areas:

Please note that your account must be fully compliant with the Vine Rules and Terms of Service in addition to meeting these requirements.

If you discover an account that you think is impersonating you or your organization, please report it by emailing vinehelp@twitter.com. Please note that we require the individual or organization directly involved or someone legally authorized to act on their behalf to report the issue.

Our team will investigate the issue and let you know whether the account violates our policies. Keep in mind that we rarely remove accounts with the same name but no other commonalities with you or your organization.
