Since this is Black History Month, it would be great to see a wide selection of books written by Black Authors both in and out of the diaspora.

I highly recommend "Thelonious Rising" by Judith Richards. It is the story of a brave young boy who manages to survive the devastation of Hurricane Kathrina. I couldn't put down this wonderful book.

Yeah. Been there.
Yeah. Been there.
I also suggest The Sellout, Swing Time, Here Comes the Sun, Homegoing, and The Fifth Season for something more relevant to Black History Month.

If you're looking for something non-fiction wise by a black author there is "The Warmth of Other Suns", which covers the Great Migration.

Homegoing, is a stunning, epic debut novel that our book club appreciated greatly. It is an excellent choice for Black History Month. Reading the reviews on Goodreads will give you a good sense of the book.

It's always the same, for me, with these overhyped books. In the end I'm always "meh" and wonder why it is such a hype.

High Cotton by Darryl Pinkney and Black Deutschland by Darryl Pinkney and Retribution by Nyree Ausler are some really good books for Black History Month.
One of my book groups read "The Turner House" by Angela Flournoy for February - especially for Black History month.
