  2016 federal election results Divisional profile Divisional contacts           Topics of public interest Senate vacancy Western Australia As directed by his Honour, Justice Keane of the High Court the AEC conducted a special count at the AEC State Office in Perth on Tuesday 7 March 2017.

 Upon completion, the Australian Electoral Officer for Western Australia provided the result to the High Court of Australia for its consideration. Accordingly, the AEC will be issuing no public announcement of the result of the special count while this matter is before the Court. See previous AEC media statement. Senate vacancy South Australia A second vacancy exists following the resignation of Mr Bob Day AO as a South Australian Senator on 1 November 2016. This matter is currently the subject of consideration by the High Court of Australia sitting as the Court of Disputed Returns. The Court's consideration of this matter is ongoing.
