Lost Gravity

Lost Gravity are a rock band formed in 2007 by Breno Val in London, England. The band are known for their powerful guitar riffs, great vocal melodies and groovy drums. Their main influences are AC/DC, Alice in Chains and Metallica.

History

In the beginning

The seed of what became Lost Gravity was sown two years earlier, in 2005, when Breno relocated to Hamburg for a few months to write some songs. Some of these songs became the core of Lost Gravity current setlist like Anywhere But Home and No Way Out. Other songs which were written later, Selfish and Venom in a Vial, were inspired by his time in Germany.

In 2006, back in Brazil, Breno joined a Bruce Dickinson tribute band which toured all over the State of Sao Paulo. Motivated by that tour, in 2007 Lost Gravity was born in London.

Full band

The first line up had Chris Finnerty on the drums, an amazing drummer who once auditioned for a project of Irish songs that Breno was involved. Chris never joined that project and months later randomly bumped into Breno on the London Underground, who told him about the idea of forming Lost Gravity and showed him the songs. Chris liked them and was in for the ride. Al Davies (vocals) and Jon Campbell (bass) completed the first Lost Gravity line up.

Walibi Holland

Walibi Holland (previously called Flevohof, Walibi Flevo, Six Flags Holland and Walibi World) is a theme park in Biddinghuizen, The Netherlands.

Attractions include the Speed of Sound, El Condor, Xpress, Goliath and Robin Hood roller coasters.

The adjacent associated event grounds has been the location of large Scout camps and music festivals.

History

In 1971, the park was opened under the name 'Flevohof'. It was an educational themepark themed after agriculture and farming. Having struggled to compete with more modern family attractions, Flevohof went bankrupt in 1993, and was subsequently purchased by the Walibi Group that autumn, who redeveloped the site as an amusement park. After a major winter-long programme of reconstruction the park reopened as Walibi Flevo on 7 May 1994, featuring the world's first Vekoma suspended looping coaster (SLC), El Condor. The park also adopted the wallaby mascot of its sister park, Walibi Wavre in Belgium. (The name 'Walibi', incidentally, is derived from the first two letters of three towns in Belgium put together to form a single word: Wavre - Limal - Bierges).

Gravity

Gravity or gravitation is a natural phenomenon by which all things with energy are brought toward (or gravitate toward) one another, including stars, planets, galaxies and even light and sub-atomic particles. Gravity is responsible for many of the structures in the Universe, by creating spheres of hydrogen — where hydrogen fuses under pressure to form stars — and grouping them into galaxies. On Earth, gravity gives weight to physical objects and causes the tides. Gravity has an infinite range, although its effects become increasingly weaker on farther objects.

Gravity is most accurately described by the general theory of relativity (proposed by Albert Einstein in 1915) which describes gravity not as a force but as a consequence of the curvature of spacetime caused by the uneven distribution of mass/energy; and resulting in gravitational time dilation, where time lapses more slowly in lower (stronger) gravitational potential. However, for most applications, gravity is well approximated by Newton's law of universal gravitation, which postulates that gravity is a force where two bodies of mass are directly drawn (or 'attracted') to each other according to a mathematical relationship, where the attractive force is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This is considered to occur over an infinite range, such that all bodies (with mass) in the universe are drawn to each other no matter how far they are apart.

Mack Rides

Mack Rides GmbH & Co KG, also known simply as Mack Rides is a German company that designs and constructs amusement rides. Mack Rides in headquartered in Waldkirch, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Mack Rides is one of the world's oldest amusement industry suppliers and builds all kinds of amusement devices including several types of flat rides, dark rides, log flumes, tow boat rides and roller coasters. The family that owns Mack Rides also owns Europa-Park.

History

1780s-1950s

Mack Rides traces its roots back to 1780 when Paul Mack, a young entrepreneur, started building carriages and stagecoaches. The Mack Company began building organ wagons and caravans for traveling showmen in 1880 commencing the company's involvement in the amusement industry. The first wooden roller coaster was built in 1921, the first car ride in 1936 and the first wooden bobsled ride in 1951. By 1952 Mack Rides started increasing its exports of rides into the U.S. market.

1950s-present

Europa-Park is run by the Mack family. Franz Mack (1921–2010) in 1958 took over the family firm, Mack GmbH & Co (now Mack Rides), together with his brothers. Together with his son Roland (b. 1949) he visited the USA in 1972 and was inspired to open a theme park in Germany, as an exhibition site for his company's products.
